[61587] Evelyn's obituary: "Evelyn Margaret (Rowe) Day, 103, wife of the late Kenneth U. Day Sr., died peacefully March 15, 2016, at a local health care center. She was born March 26, 1912, in Seal Harbor, the daughter of Hollis E. and Lydia I. (Grindle) Rowe. Evelyn was a graduate of Bar Harbor High School and Valedictorian of her class. She attended Peter Brent Brigham Hospital School of Nursing. She and her late husband, Kenneth, were co-owners of Days Superette on Mount Hope Avenue, a well-known and respected business. Evelyn was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church for many years, Tuscan Chapter #148 OES of Bangor and the Bangor Nature Club. She was also a volunteer at Stillwater Healthcare for 18 years. Surviving are one daughter, Mary Ellen (Day) Metcalf and her husband, Henry 'Hank,' of Orono; a son, Kenneth U. Day Jr. and his wife, Linda Armstrong, of East Corinth; four grandchildren, Julie L. Stark, Robert L. Metcalf, Amy S. Collins and Lynda J. Henry; nine great-grandchildren, Bryan Day, Daniel Day, Robyn Metcalf, Cricket Metcalf, Elliott Collins, Caleb Collins, Joey Metcalf, Scott Henry and Danielle Henry; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Kenneth, she was predeceased by a grandson, Kenneth U. Day III; and a sister, Ella Savage. The family thanks Beacon Hospice for their loving care during her final days."
