[2585] Mother identified, and ancestry given, in "The Plantagenet Ancestry," W.H.Turton (Balt.: Gen. Pub. Co.,1968), p. 29. Concerning the name Berthold, http://www.bartold.com/genealogy/origins.html offers: "The name (as an origin of the families) seems to be in Friuli, in north easten Italy in 747 AD. Around 840 AD, the name moves to Swabia, generally a region encompassing the current junction of Germany, France and Switzerland. The name really comes to the fore around 910 AD, both in Swabia, and in Bavaria, or more precisely in some of the oldest cities in Bavaria, specifically Regensburg. The name disappears in Swabia before 920. By 940 the name moves into the backround in Bavaria. The name reappears in Swabia around 980 AD, and becomes one branch of the 'von Zahringen' family. There is no record of a direct link to the earlier family, but a link is very very likely. The name reappears in Bavaria in Upper Isar (south west of Munich), and becomes known as the 'von Andechs'. A third line resurfaces in the 'East Mark' of Bavaria, known today as Austria, as part of the 'von Babenberg' line. Unfortunately, the last Bertold 'von Zahringen' dies in 1218 and the last Bertold 'von Andechs' dies in 1251."
[56589] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 6 April 2003: "Johns Eugene Burns, 87, passed away, March 31, 2007, in Zephyrhills, Fla. He was born October 29, 1914 in Haynesville, the son of Everett C. and Adeline E. (Campbell) Burns. He was predeased by a brother, Joseph Alton Burns; and a sister Nettie Howe. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II and worked as a barber in Westbrook many years. He attended Danforth High School, Higgins Classical Institute, St. Stephens Business School, and was a graduate of Hanson and Spelling Barber School. He is survived by his children, Beverly A. Rand of Silver Springs, Md., Bonnie L. Sweigard of Meridan, Ct., John E. Burns, Jr. and his friend Sandra Viner, of Glenburn,Delano F. Burns of Hudson, Richard J. Burns of Odenton, Md., Thomas W. Burns of Old Town, and Peter J. Burns, of Greenbush; a sister Annie Kelly of Trumble, Conn., 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren."
[35233] Edwin is son of Wilber Arthur Butler (1830-1903) & Sally Johnson. Ancestry.com offers: "Butler Name Meaning - English and Irish: from a word that originally denoted a wine steward, usually the chief servant of a medieval household, from Norman French butuiller (Old French bouteillier, Latin buticularius, from buticula 'bottle'). In the large households of royalty and the most powerful nobility, the title came to denote an officer of high rank and responsibility, only nominally concerned with the supply of wine, if at all. Anglicized form of French Boutilier."
