[2647] Known as "the Freckled." "The Earliest English Kings," D. P. Kirby (London: 1992), p. 212: "The advent to royal power in 825 of Merfyn Frych ap Gwriad, a Powys prince with possible Manx connections, whose father had married a daughter of Cynan ap Rhodri, king of Gwynedd, established the second dynasty of Gwynedd. Merfyn's marriage to Nest, sister of Cyngen ap Cadell, king of Powys, strenthened the Powysian associations of this second dynasty...." http://www.britannia.com/bios/ebk/merfynrd.html offers (2001): "Merfyn Frych, King of Gwynedd & Ynys Manaw (c.780-844)(Welsh-Merfyn, Latin-Marbinus, English-Mervin) Merfyn the Freckled was the son of King Guriat of Ynys Manaw, heir to the lost Kingdom of South Rheged. His mother was Esyllt ferch Cynan, the heiress of Gwynedd, and after the death of her uncle in AD 825, the throne was secured for Merfyn. He crossed from Ynys Manaw (Isle of Man), where he was almost certainly already King, to bring a new stability as well as a new dynasty to Gwynedd after many years of Civil War. He reigned for 19 years and, sadly, though Gwynedd gained from his rule, an absentee monarch left Manaw open to invasion. The Hiberno-Viking, Godred mac Fergus established himself there in 836 and the country ws never recovered. Merfyn died in AD 844." For descendents, see "Medieval English Ancestors of Certain Americans," Carl Boyer III (Santa Clarita, CA, 2001), pp. 126ff. Cf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merfyn_Frych.

[34502] This person is from the unverified Gatewood Logan Family tree in Ancestry.com in 2013 which states Hans m. Anna Sporri (1590-1634).
[28165] Christina Straub in "Straubs, Smiths and Extended Family" on rootsweb.com in 2007 states Anna Maria is daughter of Henrich Schmit, citing "History of the Ulrich Wirth Family," Randall Wert. Concerning Anna Maria, Christina Straub also reports: "May be buried in the oldest marked grave at Weissenburg Church, The stone reads 'Maria Werdin 1st geboren August (illegible), gestorben Feb 2 1772.' However, the proliferation of the last name Wert and first name Maria make it impossible to determine whether this is actually our Maria."
[43944] The unverified Foreman Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2018 offers: "Johannes Seuser was born on August 12, 1794, in Neuwied, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. He married Ferdinande Bungener on September 14, 1810. They had [at least] one child during their marriage. He died on February 2, 1874, in his hometown, having lived a long life of 79 years. Ferdinande Bungener was born on July 26, 1802. . . . She died on May 3, 1862, at the age of 59."
[46710] "The Perry County Times [New Bloomfield, PA] 22 December 1938," p. 1: "Clarence Herbert Swartz, a retired farmer, whose home is a mile south of Saville, committed suicide Monday at 9:30 a. m. at the home of a neighbor, Glenn Smith, where he had first gone into the house and after speaking to them a short time, went to their barn and in a small room or entry he shot himself in the head with a revolver which he had evidently hidden before leaving home. The County Coroner, Dr. J. E. Book, of Newport, who was summoned, after investigating, pronounced it a case of suicide, and said no inquest would be held. Mr. Swartz, who was aged 55 years, 5 months and 5 days, was a son of the late William T. and Mary Magdalene Swartz. He had been in ill health almost four years and worried over his failing health. He was a life-long member of the Reformed Church, at the time of death being a member of the Ickesburg Reformed Church, having held the offices of deacon, elder and treasurer, and was a director of the Ickesburg State Bank which closed its doors a number of years ago, and a member of the Masonic Lodge, New Bloomfield, and the Harrisburg Consistory. He was president of the Swartz reunion ever since its organization. Beside farming he was also engaged in the lumber business and his ill health caused retirement. His wife, Mrs. Ella Rice Swartz, died last May. Surviving him are his aged mother, and the following daughters and sons: Gladys, Mrs. George Moose, Andersonburg ; C. Harold, Loysville ; C. Leroy, Ickesburg ; Betty, Mrs. J. H. Snyder, R. N.; D. Jane and John William, at home, and three grandchildren." Clarence is son of William Theodore Swartz (1857-1922) & Mary Magdelene Swab (1862-1950).
