His surname is also found Huckings and Huggins. He m. 3 Nov 1649 at Barnstable, MA Rose, widow of Hugh Hillier - Rose d. 1687 at Barnstable, MA. A note in NEHGR 40:80 lists him as Commisary [sic] on the staff of Major William Bradford in the Plymouth, MA Regiment during King Philip's War. See NEHGR 51:76 staes his "name appears sixth on the original master roll of the Artillery Co 1637, and who was Com'y Gen. of the Plymouth Colony forces in King Philip's War." "First Settlers of Barnstable, MA" in NEHGR Vol. 2, p. 64 (also see p. 194) states Thomas m. (1) in 1642 Mary Wells (d. 28 July 1648) and provides their children and that he m. (2) Rose Hyllier, widow (d. 1687, at age 71) and lists their children. Ancestry.com offers: "Huckins Name Meaning - English: patronymic from a pet form of Hugh."
