[53224] Harold was a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean and Viet Nam Wars.
[51109] Joanne is daughter of Josephat A. Daigle (1908-1981) & Marie Regina Chavarie (1906-1978; m. 23 January 1933 in ME). "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 22 February 2021: "Bar Harbor - Joanne Marie (Daigle) Higgins, passed away February 21, 2021, in Safe Harbor at Birch Bay Village, Bar Harbor, of Alzheimer's. She was born January 12, 1938, in Bar Harbor, Maine to Regina Marie (Chevarie) and Josephat A. Daigle. She attended St. Edwards Catholic school and graduated from Bar Harbor High School, class of 1956. In 1958, she married Robert L. Higgins Jr. and they started their family, having four children. Family was very important to Joanne and she adored her 2 grandsons, granddaughter and great-granddaughter. She was very proud of her French Canadian heritage, as her parents were both from New Brunswick, Canada. Joanne worked in the finance department of the town of Bar Harbor for about 40 years and was fond of her interactions with members of the community as well as her co-workers. For many years, she enjoyed her morning walks around town and meeting the 'ladies' at Jordan's Restaurant for breakfast before work. She valued time spent with her oldest daughter and grandsons, when they were young. Although reluctant to go at first, she liked traveling with family and especially the many cruises she went on with two of her daughters, her son-in-law and granddaughter. She really loved the shows on board. Traveling the roads of Maine on a drive with her son was a favorite pastime. Joanne is survived by her children, Patricia Graten (Bill) of Steuben, Annette Higgins of Bar Harbor, Robert L. Higgins III (Annie McDonnell) of Mt. Desert, and Judith Hawley (John) of Brunswick; her grandchildren, Chris Graten (Melanie) of Gouldsboro, Justin Graten of Forest Park, IL, Amelia Hawley of Brunswick; and great-grand-daughter, Mackenzie Graten of Gouldsboro; her sister-in-law, Jesse (Dale) Morris of Presque Isle; brother-in-law, Leo Higgins of Bar Harbor; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert l. Higgins Jr.; her parents; and her sister, Catherine (Kay) Hall."
