Grinnell of Magnolia, former public information officer of the New England Regional Commission, died of cancer Wednesday in the Greenery Nursing Home in Beverly. He was 74. - Mr. Grinnell was born in Boston. He graduated from Buckingham, Browne and Nichols School in Cambridge and attended the US Army Meteorology program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After service in the Army during World War II, he was city editor of the Montpelier, Vt, "Evening Argus" and owner of Vermont radio station WSKI. He later became public information officer for the New England State Police Commissioners Conference and a special agent for the New England Crime Commission before becoming public relations director of the New England Regional Commission. In recent years, he had been East Coast vice president of Cable Investments Incorporated of Denver, Colo., for whom he negotiated the acquisition of cable TV and radio stations. Mr. Grinnell, who played polo at the Myopia Hunt Club, founded the Basin Harbor Club polo team in Vermont and was a part-time polo coach at Norwich University. He was also vice president and cofounder of Rescue, Inc., a personal crisis hot line operated from Boston City Hospital for 15 years. He leaves his wife, Jean (Girdler); two daughters, Pamela G. Breen of Enfield, Conn., and Anne G. Dagenhart of Temple, Texas; a son, Chandler R. of West Newbury; a sister, Leslie Grinnell of Greenwich, Conn.; two stepdaughters, Carol Adams of Fleetwood, Pa., and Suzanne Carney of Alameda, Calif; two stepsons, David Williamson of Vermont and Scott Williamson of Falmouth; and six grandchildren. There are no funeral arrangements. Mr. Grinnell donated his body to Harvard Medical School."

John Spencer, of Althorp and Lady Georgiana Carolina Carteret, daughter of John Carteret, Earl Granville, 2nd Lord Carteret and Frances Worsley. 1st Earl Spencer Married 20 December 1755 at Althorp, the Spencer family country estate to Georgiana Poyntz, daughter of The Rt. Hon. Stephen Poyntz and Anna Maria Mordaunt. The couple had five children; Lady Georgiana Spencer (1757-1806), married William Cavendish, 5th Duke of Devonshire and had issue. George John Spencer, 2nd Earl Spencer (1758-1834). Lady Henrietta Frances Spencer (1761-1821), married Frederick Ponsonby, 3rd Earl of Bessborough and had issue. Lady Charlotte Spencer (1765-1766), died in infancy.
Lady Louisa Spencer (b. & d. 1769), died in infancy. Spencer was MP for Warwick from 1756 to 1761. He was High Steward of St Albans in 1772. He was Mayor of St Albans in 1779.
