[3191] Geoffrey is the fourth son of King Henry II of England. He m. Constance (d. 1201), dau. and heir of Duke Conan IV of Brittany, in July 1181. Their son Arthur was persecuted by King John who perceived him as a rival for the English throne (Duke Arthur I of Brittany, d. 1203; probably murdered at the behest of King John); they also had a daughter, Eleanor (d. 1241 ) and a daughter Matilda (b. 1185/6, died young). See Alison Weir, "Eleanor of Aquitaine" (NY: Ballantine, 1999). Also see "Richard and John: Kings at War," Frank McLynn (Cambridge, MA: Da Capo Press, 2007).

[35876] Ancestry.com offers: "George Name Meaning - English, Welsh, French, South Indian, etc.: from the personal name George, Greek Georgios, from an adjectival form, georgios 'rustic', of georgos 'farmer'. This became established as a personal name in classical times through its association with the fashion for pastoral poetry. Its popularity in western Europe increased at the time of the Crusades, which brought greater contact with the Orthodox Church, in which several saints and martyrs of this name are venerated, in particular a saint believed to have been martyred at Nicomedia in ad 303, who, however, is at best a shadowy figure historically. Nevertheless, by the end of the Middle Ages St. George had become associated with an unhistorical legend of dragon-slaying exploits, which caught the popular imagination throughout Europe, and he came to be considered the patron saint of England among other places. As an American family name, this has absorbed cognates from other European languages, including German Georg and Greek patronymics such as Georgiou, Georgiadis, Georgopoulos, and the status name Papageorgiou 'priest George'. In English-speaking countries, this surname is also found as an Anglicized form of Greek surnames such as Hatzigeorgiou 'George the Pilgrim' and patronymics such as Giorgopoulos 'son of George'."

[31786] Margarete is said to be daughter of David Lämmle.
[39651] Find A Grave Memorial 59384150 states Joseph is "Husband of Ruth Town. Son of Nathaniel and Eleanor (Dorman) Porter " Ancestry.com offers: "Porter Name Meaning - English and Scottish: occupational name for the gatekeeper of a walled town or city, or the doorkeeper of a great house, castle, or monastery, from Middle English porter 'doorkeeper', 'gatekeeper' (Old French portier). The office often came with accommodation, lands, and other privileges for the bearer, and in some cases was hereditary, especially in the case of a royal castle. As an American surname, this has absorbed cognates and equivalents in other European languages, for example German Pförtner (see Fortner) and North German Poertner. English: occupational name for a man who carried loads for a living, especially one who used his own muscle power rather than a beast of burden or a wheeled vehicle. This sense is from Old French porteo(u)r (Late Latin portator, from portare 'to carry or convey'). Dutch: occupational name from Middle Dutch portere 'doorkeeper'. Compare 1. Dutch: status name for a freeman (burgher) of a seaport, Middle Dutch portere, modern Dutch poorter."
