[59117] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 16 February 2021: "Jonesport - Carla Jean (Emerson) Merritt passed away peacefully February 11, 2021, at Narraguagus Bay Health Care Facility, Milbridge, with her family by her side. The ninth of eleven children, Carla was born on June 17, 1952, to Lawrence M. Emerson and Rachel C. Emerson (Faulkingham). Carla married Alberton 'Bo' Merritt on January 27, 1972, when he returned home from Vietnam and shortly thereafter she graduated from Jonesport-Beals High School. They were blessed with two sons and one grandson, who stole her heart the day he was born. She spent many summers as a child on Crowley's Island and it always held fond memories for her. It was a place she loved to talk about; wonderful times with family and friends. Carla held many seasonal jobs throughout her 68 years, such as digging clams, shucking clams, picking crabmeat, making wreaths, working at the blueberry factory, redemption center clerk and caregiver to her parents. She spent many hours helping her parents in their later years. Carla spent the last years of her life in Narraguagus Bay, but still loved going out for a ride or a shopping strip to Ellsworth. She loved playing Beano and attending church service, where on August 20, 2017, she accepted the Lord as her Savior. Carla's life was full of friends. She had a huge heart and was loved by all that knew her. She always made sure she had plenty of candy for the girls that worked a Narraguagus Bay and her room was the place to stop for a snack. She had many nurses that she loved and were very special to her. Carla most loved her grandson, PJ. She spent many days playing with him and enjoying his company when he was a child. She also loved her two sons dearly, always calling to make sure they were okay. Carla is survived by her husband, Alberton 'Bo' Merritt; her sons, Alberton Jr. 'Naka' Merritt and partner, Amy Metcalf, and Lawrence Merritt and partner, Melissa Emerson; grandson, Lawrence Jr. 'PJ' Merritt; her sisters, Lucille Albee and husband, Joseph 'Jack' and Darlene Carver and husband, Byron Jr.; brother, Clifton Emerson; sisters-in-law, Nellie Emerson, Jacklin Emerson, Janie Emerson, Phyliss Merritt, Arlene Smith and husband, Dwight, Cathy Merritt, and Florence Merritt and partner, Denny Farnsworth; brother-in-law, Sheldon 'Shebba' Merritt; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; and six brothers, Maxwell and wife, Glennis, Ernest, George, and wife, Ramona, Sherman, Larry and Robert; sister, Delanie Beal and husband, Carl; sister-in-law, Evelyn Merritt, Julia McClain and husband, Vince; and brother-in-law, Shirley 'Pack' Merritt."

[28705] "New England Families," William Richard Cutter (Clearfield Co.), Vol. 4, p.2013, reports: "He was a Baptist in religion, and almost the only one of that faith in Newton for twenty years. He was baptized December 7, 1729, and joined the First Baptist Church at Boston in 1748. He was known as a 'bloomer,' or manufasturer of iron blooms, and had works on the lower falls in Newton for many years." This source provides his ancestry, children, etc.
