He was baptized in 1621. Benedict or Benedictus Alvord immigrated before 1637 .He served as a sergeant in the Pequot battle in 1637.He was present at the 'Pequot Massacre.' Was in England in February 1639, and back in America for marriage to Jane Newton Nov 26, 1640. He lived with his wife and children in Connecticut, where he is found to have had a land grant. He became a member of Windsor Church October 17, 1641. He was a juror in April 1643 and a constable in 1666.He passed away April 23, 1683 in Windsor, Hartford, Connecticut."

He was born in West Brooksville, May 31, 1892, son of Albert and Mary Eleanor (Varnum) Gray. He attended Sullivan schools and Shaw's Business College, Bangor. He was a World War I veteran having served in France with the 103rd Field Artillery Regiment, 76th Division. He was in the grocery business at Sullivan Harbor a number of yeors and in 1927 he established the L. A. Gray Co. in Hancock. He was a prominent grain feed and wholesale dealer for many years. He was a director of the company until his death. He retired from active business in 1960 and had been a blueberry grower since then. He was a 50-year member of David A. Hooper lodge of Masons, Sullivan. He had served a number of years on the Sullivan Budget Committee and with others had sponsored several local baseball teams. He is survived by his wife, Mary Gordon Gray of Sullivan; one son, Carle G. Gray of Sullivan; four daughters; Mrs. Philip (Barbara) Martin, Jr. of Sullivan, Mrs. George (Sylvia) Noyes of Brewer, Mrs. Keith (Joan) Hovey of Hampden, and Mrs. Kenneth (Freda) Masse of East Vassalboro; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two nephews, and three cousins."

[57666] Thomas' obituary: "Thomas Hanson, Pittsfields Oldest Resident, Dies Pittsfield, Maine, Dec 3 The oldest resident of Pittsfield, Thomas W Hanson, 98, holder of the Boston Post cane, died early Friday morning at the home of his daughter Mrs. Izetta Alexander on Central Street. He was born October 18,1856 at St Stephen New Brunswick, [Canada] the son of Nehemiah and Mary C (Craig) Hanson. Mr. Hanson who retired from service with the Maine Central Railroad 40 years ago had made his home with Mrs. Alexander for the past 15 years. Surviving are four daughters: Mrs. Alexander, Mrs. Edna Earle of Weeks Mill, Mrs. [Bessie] Byron Cameron of Fairview, New Brunswick, Canada, and Mrs. Hattie Grimmer of St Johnsbury, VT, a son Carl Hanson of Vanceboro, several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren. "
