[34868] This line is from the unverified Barnes Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2013 and must be documented - it states Richard is son of John Barnes (1510-1584). Ancestry.com offers: "Barnes Name Meaning - English: topographic name or metonymic occupational name for someone who lived by or worked at a barn or barns, from Middle English barn 'barn', 'granary'. In some cases, it may be a habitational name from Barnes (on the Surrey bank of the Thames in London), which was named in Old English with this word. English: name borne by the son or servant of a barne, a term used in the early Middle Ages for a member of the upper classes, although its precise meaning is not clear (it derives from Old English beorn, Old Norse barn 'young warrior'). Barne was also occasionally used as a personal name (from an Old English, Old Norse byname), and some examples of the surname may derive from this use. Irish: possibly an Anglicized form of Gaelic Ó Bearáin 'descendant of Bearán', a byname meaning 'spear'. French: variant of Bern"

[50129] Warren m. Ela M. Miller (b. 1902).
[25153] OneWorldTree on Ancestry. com in 2006 (not verified) provides his information and genealogy and proposes his wife as Rohese Giffard (q.v.), daughter of Walter and Agnes. This source indicates that Roger is son of Hugh LeCorbet (b. 1020 in Pays de Caux, d. 1081 there). See "Medieval English Ancestors of Certain Americans," Carl Boyer III (Santa Clarita, CA, 2001), p. 60. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caus_Castle reports "Roger le Corbet (or Fitz Corbet) was granted several manors in Shropshire in 1069 by William the Conqueror as the Barony of Caus for his role in the Norman conquest and invasion of England. They were named after his Normandy estate in the Pays de Caux. The Corbets owed fealty to Roger de Montgomery, Earl of Shrewsbury to help control Welsh Marches with absolute control over their demesne. Caus Castle was built by Roger le Corbet in the late 11th century as a high motte with a very small summit on which stood a tower and a strongly defended inner bailey." Ancestry.com offers: "Corbett Name Meaning - English (Shropshire; of Norman origin): nickname meaning little crow, raven, from Anglo-Norman French, Middle English corbet, a diminutive of corb, alluding probably to someone with dark hair or a dark complexion. adm The name was taken from Shropshire to Scotland in the 12th century and to northern Ireland in the 17th century, and thence to North America by one group of bearers of the name."
