He married Sarah Emma Adams on October 15, 1882, in Ralpho, Pennsylvania. They had four children in 14 years. He died on April 18, 1932, in Paxinos, Pennsylvania, at the age of 71, and was buried there." "Shamokin News-Dispatch [Shamokin, PA], 19 April 1932," p. 1: "The funeral of George R. Erdman, well known retired carpenter who succumbed very suddenly at noon yesterday following a stroke suffered Sunday evening, will be held from the home of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Gillespie, occupants of the Erdman homestead, 18 North Second street, at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Friends so desiring can view the remains there on Wednesday evening. The services will be said by the Rev. Henry Erdman, of Burkettville. Maryland, a nephew of the departed. Burial will be made in the family plot in the Blue church cemetery."
