She was born 22 Mar 1768 in Spartanburg, SC, and died 30 Nov 1850 in Near Marion, Perry Co, AL. Samuel Boydstun attended William & Mary College. He entered the service as a private from Perry County, Alabama, served in the Tennessee Militia. Applied for pension, which commenced 15 Jun 1834 at age 72. He received $46.66 per year. His widow applied for the pension following his death. He appears on the 1840 census of Neshoba County, MS (page 128) as a Revolutionary Pensioner, head of household, age 77. He also appears on he 1841 and 1845 tax rolls of Neshoba County, Mississippi. This information found at Albama Archives in a list of Revolutionary Soldiers in Alabama: BOYDSTON, SAMUEL, aged 72, and a resident of Perry County; private, Tennessee Militia; enrolled on September 17, 1833, under act of Congress of June 7, 1832; payment to date from March 4, 1831; annual allowance, $46.66; sums received to date of publication of list, $116.65.--Revolutionary Pension Roll, in Vol. xiv, Sen. Samuel Boydstun (or Doydston) was born in 1762 in Frederick County, Maryland and lived in Jones County, North Carolina at the time of his enlistment in the Revolutionary War. He married Sarah _____ on July 26, 1784 in Greenville District, South Carolina, and their son Jesse Doydstun was age 62 in 1850 and living in Neshoba County, Mississippi (where Samuel was living in 1838). On July 5, 1833, he applied for a pension (R1096) in Perry County, Alabama, aged 70, but it was rejected (Ref. VDW-349). Samuel died on October 2, 1847. His widow applied for a pension in June, 1850, in Neshoba COunty, Mississippi (Ref.: VDW-349). It should be noted that there is no record of Samuel Boydstun's service in the 'Roster of Soldiers from North Carolina in the American Revolution,' compiled by the DAR in 1932." His pension certificate was issued in Alabama in 1833 (Book E, Vol. 8, p. 43).

Fred; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Jane) Cooper of Polk and Mrs. Arlen (Marilyn ) Hanley of Sullivan; two sons, Major Jerry W. Hartley with the U.S. Air Force in South Carolina and James P. of Ashland; 11 grandchildren; a sister, Miss Dorothy Briner and a brother, Milo Briner both of Ashland." Fannie's marriage record states employement at Eagle Rubber Co. in Ashland; the 1930 federal census states she is "Stamper, rubber factory". She and Fred also had two children who died quite young, Delores M. and Raymond Eugene.

He was born in Penobscot, a son of Justin and Mary Gray. For seventy years he made his home in Bar Harbor and for the past four years he had lived in Veazie. He was the oldest man in Bar Harbor and had the distinction of holding the Boston Post cane. He was a member of St John's Episcopal church of Bangor. A man of sterling character he was well known for his many deeds of kindness. Until his accident he was active for a man of his years and was enjoyed by the younger set as well as his older friends. He will be greatly missed by many associates. He is survived by two sons, Arthur and Irving Gray, both of Bar Harbor; five daughters, Mrs. Jennie Tyler of Randolph, Mass., Mrs. Lula Lurvey and Mrs. Margaret Engman, both of Bar Harbor; Mrs. Olive Martin of Sullivan and Mrs. Linwood E.
