He was a retired farmer and a member of the Polk United Church of Christ. He was married April 7, 1928, to Fannie I. Briner, who preceded him in death in 1976. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Arlin (Marilyn) Handley of Sullivan and Mrs. Paul (Jane) Welling of Polk; two sons, Jerry of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Jim of Ashland; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers Earl of Kissimmee, Fla., Roy and Robert, both of Greenwich, and Orlo of New London; and three sisters, Mrs. Ella Gardner of Prescott, Ariz., Mrs. Rose Brown of Wellington and Mrs. Christina Howard of Wellington. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Delores, in 1930 and a son, Raymond, in 1936."
