[23109] The LDS Church's unverified Ancestral File states that Manfred I is son of Boniface de Saluzzo (b. ca. 1104, d. 5 Oct 1125) and Alice de Savoy (b. ca. 1108). Saluzzo(säloot´ts?) is in the Piedmont Region of northwest Italy (see http://www.comune.saluzzo.cn.it); http://www.camperclublagranda.it states: "For centuries the Marquisate of Saluzzo has been a strategic area among Piedmont, France and Liguria: a small but powerful and significant feudal State, whose Princes have promoted the art and culture as testified by the splendid monuments and works that mark this original territory framed by the Monviso, the Stone King of the Alps." Also see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Margraves_of_Saluzzo and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manfred_I_of_Saluzzo.
