[32329] Ancestry.com offers: "Price Name Meaning - Welsh: Anglicized form of Welsh ap Rhys 'son of Rhys' (see Reece). This is one of the commonest of Welsh surnames. It has also been established in Ireland since the 14th century, where it is sometimes a variant of Bryson. English: the name is also found very early in parts of England far removed from Welsh influence (e.g. Richard Prys, Essex 1320), and in such cases presumably derives from Middle English, Old French pris 'price', 'prize', perhaps as a metonymic occupational name for a fixer of prices."
