[48276] "The Perry County Times [New Bloomfield, PA], 9 November 1922", p. 3: "Mrs. Laura Alexander, one of the best known and most highly esteemed women of New Bloomfield, died Friday night about 10 o'clock in the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, to which institution she had been taken Aug. 2, by her daughter. Mrs. M. L. Ritter, of Newport. Thirteen months and one day before her death, Mrs. Alexander lost by death her youngest daughter, Mrs. Wm. H. Snyder, of Duncannon, and since which time her health had been failing rapidly. She was the victim of high blood pressure with its accompanying affliction, hardening of the arteries, from which her death resulted in a peaceful sleep at the above hour. In the afternoon of the Friday Mrs. Alexander had a relapse and her family was at once sent for, but did not arrive until after the end had come. Deceased, who was aged 69 years, 5 month and 22 days, was the daughter of the late Jacob and Caroline Sheibley, was the last of her immediate family and was born on the Sheibly farm in Spring township. Mrs. Alexander was first married to Wm. F. Comp and later to Dr. R. M. Alexander and lived all her life in Perry county and for many years in New Bloomfield. She was the mother of three daughters to her first husband, namely, Mrs. Jesse Bryner, of Philadelphia; Carrie, Mrs. C. L. Darlington, New Bloomfield, and Maud, Mrs. M. L. Ritter, of Newport, also by four grandchildren. One daughter, Jeannette, the late Mrs. Wm. H. Snyder, was the only child to her second marriage. Mrs. Alexander was a staunch member of the Bloomfield Presbyterian church in which organization she will be greatly missed as well as among her friends and children and especially in the home of Mrs. Darlington where she had lived the latter days of her life. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Darlington home at 11 a. m., Rev. I. Potter Hayes of the Bloomfield Presbyterian church officiating, with interment in Bloomfield cemetery."
