[61217] John's obituary: "Millinocket - John Melvin Hews, 90, died peacefully December 20, 2023, at his residence. He was born March 25, 1933, in Hampden, a son of Harold Sr. and Mary (Cowan) Hews. John attended Foxcroft Academy where he excelled in sports playing football, basketball, and baseball. He attended Husson College before joing the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning to Maine, John married Brenda (Bryant) and he was employed at a local transport company then began at 35 year career at Great Northern Paper retiring in the early 90s. He greatly enjoyed his time at his camp at North Twin Lake; hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. He was a longtime member of the Elks. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Brenda; three children, Lorene Cyr, Linda Albert and her husband, Robert, and Ronald Hews; four grandchildren, Bradley Cyr, Steven Cyr, Drew Albert and Kristen Soucy; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; son-in-law, Matthew Cyr; and four brothers."
