Mutter, aged 69, died at his home on Union Street, Millersburg on Sunday, he had been failing in health for two years, and for the past three months had been bedfast. For twelve years he carried the U. S. Mail between Elizabethville and Gratz, and between Good Springs and Gratz. Besides his widow he is survived by four daughters and three sons: Mrs. Edward Geist, Loyalton, Mrs. Harry Dinger, Mrs. Maude Garlin and Miss Katie of Millersburg, Harry Matter of Pittsburgh, Pa., John B., and George W., of Millersburg. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. 0. L. Mease, pastor of the United Brethren Church. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.

He was born at Bucksport, July 26, 1899, the son of George and Carrie (Baker) Wardwell. He was a member of the Franklin Street Methodist Church, Bucksport, past patron of the Orland OES, a member of the Bucksport Masonic Lodge; and Hancock Royal Arch Chapter. Wardwell was a retired fireman. Surviving are a son, Houston of Bucksport; one daughter Mrs. Charles (Barbara) Rich of Bucksport; three grandchildren, two great grandchildren; several cousins.
