He had been in failing health for several years. Captain Beal was born in Beals, January 20, 1868. He married Nettie Alley 55 years ago next month. He was a retired lighthouse keeper having served for 22 years. Surviving, besides his wife, are five daughters: Mrs. Lois Alley of Beals, Mrs. James Beal of Darien Conn., Mrs. Clarence Smith of Southwest Harbor, Mrs. A Michaud and Mrs. Ralph Ellis, both of Manset; by two sons, Maurice Beal of Manset and Harvard Beal of Southwest Harbor. His youngest son, Alston, died five years ago. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, several brothers, one sister, and several nieces and nephews."
