He was born Sept. 9, 1906 on Great Cranberry Island, the son of Henry and Alta (Spurting) Bunker. In his youth he started his boat building career at Southwest Boat Co. and continued to work there during World War II as a foreman. After the war Raymond and Ralph Ellis were boat builders together for 30 years. Raymond built the 'Jericho' for Thomas Gates, Jr. and captained it for 34 years. Raymond is survived by his wife, Gail (Patterson) Bunker; two sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Ellen Bunker of Whitehall, Mont. and James and Carol Bunker of Southwest Harbor; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Walter Sargent of Bar Harbor and Susan and Jarvis Newman of Manset; two brothers, Lyndon 'Tud' Bunker of Great Cranberry Island and Wilfred Bunker of Trenton; nine grandchildren four great-grandchildren."

Edmund's grandparents are listed as Edmund Quincy (1559-1628) and Ann Palmer (1572-1631). Edmund's great-grandparents are listed as John Quincy (1535-1597) and either Emma Chance or Joan Jolliffe.
