[47935] "Bangor Daily News, 8 October 2020: "Penobscot - Marjorie Lola Drake Wardwell, 89, born August 24, 1931, was the 5th of nine children born to Dora Cameron Drake and David Drake, went to be with her lord and savior the evening of October 6th, 2020, with her loving family by her side. The summer of 1948, while working at Crosby's Drive-In, she met the love of her life, Millard, who she would spend the next 64 years with. Together, they raised four wonderful children on Pension Hill in Penobscot, who they truly loved unconditionally. Even when one set fire to the Tapleys pasture, another dug up the potatoes from the garden and smashed them in the road, someone returned the car with the entire exhaust missing, or them running the brand new snowmobile into the corner of the tailgate, they were all loved regardless. There was always a special week each winter where Margie and Millard would go to Rangeley snowmobiling with a very close bunch of friends. In the summer they would spend a week each year camping at Matagamon with family and friends, which later turned into a week at Jo Mary Lake. Margie and Millard enjoyed traveling, whether it was just them, or with family and friends. Margie was a member of the Green Granite Girls. One of her favorite weekends each year was their trip as a group to Conway NH shopping. Margie was always known for her love and dedication she gave to her family. She was loved for her sense of humor, always saying something funny when it was least expected. She loved collecting dolls and was always eager to share her collection with the grandkids and close friends. Margie was very fortunate to have such close relationships with her siblings and their families. She loved her daughter in laws, and always spoke so highly of them every chance she got, as well as her son in law Russ. Margie worked in the Penobscot canning factory in her younger years with her sister-in-law, Marilyn, and her dearest friend, Eva. She was a member of the South Penobscot Baptist Church along with the Penobscot Historical Society. Margie also worked at the Penobscot Nursing Home and Maine Maritime Academy, where she worked as a waitress for many years. While preparing food on the ship 'The State of Maine', Margie was able to see a lot of the world. In the fall, she worked at the wreath factory where she met several good friends and acquired plenty of stories of the shenanigans they shared. Margie is survived by her four children, David and wife, Barbara, Peter and wife, Vicky, Toby and wife, Donna, and Tammy and husband, Russ Lenor; grandchildren and their spouses, Amanda and Adrian Munro, Lucas Wardwell, Gabriel and Erin Bowden, Brianya and Ben Williams, Rachael and Hunter Wilbur, Forrest and Kate Wardwell; step-grandsons, Nick Lenor and wife, Dee, Jason Lenor and wife, Jenn, and Zachary Lenor; siblings, Kenneth Drake, Rodney Drake, and Sharon Baillargeon; along with 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Margie was predeceased by her parents, David and Dora Drake; husband, Millard A. Wardwell; brothers, Harold and Audbur; sisters, Elaine, Gerry and Flora; special sister-in-law, Marilyn; and great-grandson, Nicholas. Margie will be sadly missed by many family and friends, and was fortunate to have so many special people in her life. Her passing will leave a void that can never be filled, but her memories and love will live on forever."
