He arrived with his family in Philadelphia on the ship Judith September 15, 1748. He and his son Johann Jacob both signed the ship's list as having taken the Oath of Allegience. This is probably the Johann Hassinger who left Schornsheim, Germany, "with wife and children" on March 23, 1748, traveling to Rotterdam. Judith departed Rotterdam and made a stop at Cowes, England before arriving in Philadelphia, PA. The departure is noted in "Auswanderungen aus Rheinpfalz und Saarland im 18. Jahrhundert", by Werner Hacker. The arrival is noted in "Pennsylvania German Pioneers" by Strassburger. Johannes married Maria Catherina Reinick. Maria was born in Germany. She died in Snyder Co, PA. Ramsdell passed away peacefully at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital on October 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous illness. Everett was born August 26, 1939, in Harrington, Maine. He was the beloved son of Andrew and Flora (Grant) Ramsdell. Everett attended Harrington Elementary School and Harrington High School, which was just across the field from where he grew up, and on the same street that he resided throughout his life. In 1958, Everett married Marjorie Openshaw. Together, they were well-known for their dancing, particularly to the jitterbug. During their 64 years of marriage they did much traveling, but nowhere was more special to Everett than his many summers spent in Alaska salmon fishing. Everett had a natural gift for music and could play almost any instrument put in front of him just by listening to the song. During his lifetime Everett became a skilled carpenter, mechanic, plumber, and electrician. His family considered him a jack-of-all-trades, but he would laugh and say, 'But master of none.' Everett was also a fierce Boston Celtics fan, and nothing gave him greater joy than watching the Celtics win the 2024 NBA Championship with his grandson, Everett. To say that Everett was an avid hunter, would be an understatement. As a child he roamed the pastures of Forest Hill Street and Rye Field Hill, and later built his precious hunting camp in Deblois. Everett was known for his love of hunting Hall's Ridge, Ohio Barrens, and along the Pleasant River. It was a rare occurrence if you did not meet up with Everett while riding the barrens that he loved in the fall. Everett was employed at Jasper Wyman and Sons, where he served as a mechanic, plant manager, and then director of operations for 46 years. During this time he helped in the development of two new processing plants, vast expansion of the blueberry barrens, and in-ground irrigation systems. Everett is survived by his two children, Kathy and Wade Greene of Columbia, Laurel and Jason Carroll of Columbia, and the devoted son he never had, but helped raise, Alex and Jannell Shaw of Hermon, and their sons Ryan, Brandon, and his 'Baby Everett;' grandchildren, Everett Carroll and Brienne of Harrington, Colby Carroll and Emily of Hutto, TX, Morgan Greene and Kirk of Eddington, Marion Butler and husband, Jim, of Winterport; his sisters that he treasured, Lillian Shaw of Harrington, Gloria Flaherty of Addison, and Marion Plummer of Harrington; several cousins; and many nieces and nephews all of which he adored, and that have been amazingly devoted during his illness. Special thanks to Homer Woodward, Barry Curtis, and Nancy Shaw Sawyer for the many visits, and delicious treats. Everett leaves behind lifelong friends Bob Hammond and Jerry Howard. The family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to Everett's caregivers; Kathy Caler and her 'hound' Daisy May, Dee Howard, Nancy Burgess, Natalie Moore, and Holly Archer who gave loving and compassionate care during his illness. They would also like to thank Dr. Kristen Barbee, Shi Weed, the Pleasant River Ambulance crew, and Maine Coast Memorial Hospital for their outstanding professionalism and nurturing care. Everett was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie A.
