Garverich, 71, of 336 North Thoman St., Crestline, died this morning in Fairview Manor Nursing Home, Bucyrus. He had been ill for the past several months. Mr. Garverick was a native of Richland County, a graduate of Johnsville High School and Cincinnati College of Embalming. He was a funeral director in Crestline for 35 years, moving there from Utica. He was engaged as a funeral director for 45 years. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, was a 33 year member of the Kiwanis Club, a member of the Odd Fellows, and the Knights of Pythias. Mr. Garverick was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Galion Elks lodge. He is survived by his wife, Maude M.; and two daughters, Mrs. Willard (Maxine) Light of Bucyrus, and Mrs. Luther (Margaret) Lamb of Crestline; one son, John C. of Alexandria, Va.; 11 grandchildren; one great -grandson; one sister, Mrs. Gar Smith of Mt. Gilead and three brothers, Dr. Calvin C. of Long Beach, Calif., Irvin of Mt. Vernon and Meryl J. of Crestline. Services will be held Monday at 3:30 p.m. at the Garverick Home of Snyder and Kubach Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles P. Beronius will officiate. Burial will be in Shauck Cemetery."

He was born October 4, 1949, in Castine, the son of Keith and Rachel Snow. Hal graduated from George Stevens Academy in 1967 and served with the Merchant Marines until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1969. He served for two years and came home to live and work on Holbrook Island for 16 years. After 1987 he worked as a carpenter, caretaker, and handyman. He married Andrea Smith on June 29, 1974, in Presque Isle. They were married for 50 years in June. Hal was devoted to his family, friends, and community. He served on the Brooksville School Board, The Library Board, Historical Society Board, Friends of Holbrook Island, and other community committees. He began as a selectman in 2015, a position he took great pride in until his last day with us. He helped nurture the respect and love of hunting with several kids from town over the years. He coached and officiated at many of the school and town sporting events long after his kids left school - most recently keeping score at the Jared C. Grindle tournament. Hal is survived by his wife, Andrea; son, Joshua Snow and wife, Bente, their daughters, Emma and Anna; daughter, Darcy Snow and husband, Matthew Russell, and their son, Aidan DeRaps-Russell; two sisters, Shirley Estabrook and Lucy Vachon and husband, John; and brother, Steven Snow and wife, Cathy. He was predeceased by his paternal and maternal grandparents; and his father, Keith Snow."
