Virginia Horler offered in 2006: "In 1771 at the time of his second marriage to Lucy White Chamberlain, widow of Aaron Chamberlain, Bryant Morton (1st) divided all his assets among the children of his first marriage and went to live with his 2nd wife on the other side of Gorham, where they raised two more children. His old home went to son, Briant 2nd who kept it until 1791 and then sold it to Humphrey Hanscom making his own home with Love Frost and children in Berwick. Briant and his family lived first in Gorham, No. Yarmouth and Berwick. In 1791 Briant 2nd sold his land in Gorham to Humphrey Hanscomb of Falmouth. He arrived at Jackson Plantation in 1804 and settled on Lot #4. His son, Briant 3rd and his wife Mary made their home with Briant 2nd and his wife. Other Mortons arriving in Jackson in the early 1800's were Ebenezer and Elisha Morton, and Thomas and Hannah Wescott Morton. The name Briant was not spelled with a 'Y' in their bible records. He died 26 May 1812 at his farm in Jackson of cancer. Buried at his request in his orchard east of the house. Lot #43. A Vassalboro Quaker in 1796.
