He served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1969 in Vietnam. He married Lois Dow on Sept. 4, 1970. David worked at Callahan & Kerr American mines, Devereaux Marine, Maine Maritime Academy, Ken Jones & Sons Carpentry and Snows Plumbing and Heating. He was a member of the Ira Berry Masonic Lodge, Gov. Brooks Lodge No. 142 IOOF, Brooksville Volunteer Fire Department and Brooksville Historical Society. He was a Registered Maine Guide and taught hunter safety courses. He enjoyed local history, genealogy, hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Lois; children, Jennifer Dyer and Bruce Austin; grandchildren, Blaine Dyer, Addison and Mallory Austin; and sister, Jane Austin. He was predeceased by his parents."
