[11660] "Arthur Ingram's son Henry, was made Peer of Scotland, and given the title of Viscount Irvine, for him and his surviving male heirs, by Charles II, in light of his service to Charles I, who I am sure your aware of was beheaded. Sir Henry Slingsby his father in law was also beheaded for his support of Charles I , and his outspoken opinions. Arthur Ingram's father Arthur Ingram, actually purchased the Temple Newsam from the Duke of Lennox. Previous to that, it was part of the House of Templars, of the Knights Templar, of the Friday the 13th fame. They were both the Sheriff of York during their lifetimes. http://www.leeds.gov.uk/tourinfo/attract/museums/temple.html - the temple Newsam can be found here. http://www.btinternet.com/~whitkirk/history.htm - they were buried here, also baptised here." - Jay Johnston [Johnj609@bellatlantic.net], http://members.bellatlantic.net/~johnj609 - 21 February 1998, [Note: The descendancy of Arthur Ingraham's wife from the granddaughter of Henry Percy, 5th Earl of Northumberland, is in dispute. The above descendancy has not been verified by AEM. The descendancy is published as far as Mary Percy & Francis Slingsby in Collins' Peerage of England.]
