[1529] Philip II was crowned 1 Nov 1179 at Reims during his father's reign; led Crusade with Richard of England but took ill at seige of Acre and returned to Paris (Christmas, 1191), and betrayed Richard; he went on to conquer Normandy and prepared to invade England (but King John came to terms with him); turned back John's invasion in 1214 and dealt with other threats; favored the merchants while building a strong central government. Phillip II reigned 1180-1223 and was also Count of Artois. Isabella of Hainault was his first wife; he also married (2)(in 1193) Isambour of Denmark (no children; divorce not recognized by the Pope) and (3) Agnes de Meran (children legitimized by Popt Innocent III: Philippe Hurepel, Count of Boulogne by marriage to the heiress of the county, and Marie, betrothed to Arthur). Philipp II also had a "morganatic union" with "a maiden of Arras" by whom he had Pierre Charlot, Bishop of Noyon. "'The signal victory of the Lancastrian party on the field of Bosworth, in August 1485, revived the hopes of all those who had been ejected by the Yorkists. Henry the Seventh had not been on the throne many weeks before some of them were reinstated. Among them HUGH LUTTRELL, son and heir of Sir James Luttrell, presented a petition to the King in Parliament setting forth that his father had been attainted 'for the true faith and allegiaunce which he owid unto the right famous prince of moost blessed emmory, then his soveraine lord, Henry late King of England the sixth,' and praying that the act of attainder should be repealed, and consequent letters patent made void. His petition was readily granted and the agents of the Earl of Huntingdon made way for the rightful lord of Dunster.'

He was also created a Knight of the Bath at the Coronation of Elizabeth of York, wife of Henry the Seventh, in November 1487. When Catherine of Arragon came to England to marry the then Prince of Wales, Sir Hugh Luttrell was one of the seven knights who were selected to accompany her. He married Margaret Hill, and had a son, Andrew.

When the successful issue of BOSWORTH placed the crown upon RICHMOND'S head, as HENRY VII., the estates of Sir Hugh Luttrell were immediately restored, and he was subsequently created a Knight of the Bath, at the coronation of the queen, in 1487. He espoused, first, Margaret, daughter of Robert Hill, and half-sister (maternally) of Lord Daubeney, K.G., and secondly, Walthera, widow of Thomas Drelne. He was s. in 2nd of HENRY VIII. by his son by his first wife, SIR ANDREW LUTTRELL, knt. of Dunster Castle."
"The Daily Item [Sunbury, PA], 30 June 1958," p. 19: "David L. Minnich, 71, of 1036 North Sixth Street, Reading, died Sunday evening in St. Joseph's Hospital, Reading, following a brief illness. He had been a patient In the hospital for a week. Mr. Minnich was born in Klingerstown, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Minnich. He spent a major portion of his life in Rough and Ready, and lived in the Herndon area for about 10 years. Mr. Minnich operated a general merchandise store at Rough and Ready, and was last employed as a maintenance-man at Grace Evangelical Church, Reading. He was married Dec. 29, 1906 at Rough and Ready to Cora I. Herb. Mr. Minnich belonged to Salem Lutheran Church, Rough and Ready. Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Helen Weaver, Berrysburg, and Mrs. Myrtle Potter, Trevorton; three sons, D. Spurgeon Minnich, Reading; F. Earl, Reading; and Whalen, Halifax R.D. 1; nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from Foust funeral home, Trevorton, in charge of Rev. jonn D. Keener, his pastor. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Shamokin."
Probably descended from two brothers, Simon and Peter Minnich, arrived at Phila., PA in 1737, as detailed in "Counting Kindred," E.E. Deppen and M.L. Deppen (1940). These brothers are claimed to descend from Baron Muench, a former Roman Catholic, who for his Calvinist faith paid the ultimate penalty. His family fled to various border lands of France for temporary refuge. Peter, ages 39, and Simon, aged 37 in 1737, were botn in the Palatinate of Huguenot stock. They settled in the Tuplehocken Valley (then Lancaster County, PA). Peter drifted northward into Pine Grove Township (now Schuylkill County, PA), where a large posterity live to carry the name of the pioneer whose family suffered Indian massacres and other hardships. The family here write the name "Minnig." The brother, Simon, resided in Upper Tulpehocken Township and married Catharine _ump [first letter of surname obliterated in book]; Catharine's grave is the oldest in Little Tulpehocken Church cemetery. Simon and Catharine had Christopher Minnich (1737-1806) who m. in 1757 Barbara Heider and had Benjamin Minnich (1776-1832; m. Susan Schoepfler, 1775-1838). Benjamin and Susan had Christiana Minnich (1799-1873) who married Jacob Potteiger (or Pfatteicher or Botteiger) and had Anna Potteiger who m. Levi Gring. Christopher (1737-1806) was sergeant in Capt. Ferd. Ritter's Co., under Col. Jos. Heister, 6th Battalion, per 3rd Series, Vol. 6, PA Archives. {This information is from Anita Batz via Internet, 3/98, and is not verified.)

Richard Nowland (spelled many ways) who died in Ross County, OH in 1801. He and his wife, Nancy Ann Kirkpatrick, were in Ross County as early as 1796. He was on the 1795 Tax List in Mason County, KY. Before that he may have been briefly in PA, coming from VA & MD. Who were his parents? Who were Nancy's parents? What happened to Nancy after the death of Richard?
