[445] {Castine death records state he was age 53 when he died in 1896 and that he was a sailor.} He and his family appear to be listed in the 1860 Penobscot census in the same dwelling as his parents. He is buried in lot 171 in the Castine Town Cemetery where the grave stone gives his middle initial as "S".

[32226] The 21 June 1900 federal census in Wallingford, New Haven Co., CT lists Joseph (whose parents are French Canadian), wife Emily (b, Jan 1850 in Canada), son Henry (b. Sept 1886) and daughter Mary (b. 1889). Ancestry.com offers: "Hall Name Meaning - English, Scottish, Irish, German, and Scandinavian: from Middle English hall (Old English heall), Middle High German halle, Old Norse holl all meaning 'hall' (a spacious residence), hence a topographic name for someone who lived in or near a hall or an occupational name for a servant employed at a hall. In some cases it may be a habitational name from places named with this word, which in some parts of Germany and Austria in the Middle Ages also denoted a salt mine. The English name has been established in Ireland since the Middle Ages, and, according to MacLysaght, has become numerous in Ulster since the 17th century."

[53135] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 1 March 2023: "Argyle - Richard 'Dick' Thomas Jordan III passed away peacefully after two years of declining health at his home in Argyle, on Monday Feb. 27, 2023, with his younger twin brothers Tim and Troy at his side. Dick was born April 30, 1959, on the U.S. Naval Base at Quantico Virginia. Dick was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents, father Richard Thomas Jordan Jr. (1979), mother Dorothy (Hatch) Jordan (2013) and brother Ronald Jordan (1993). Dick was an avid car enthusiast and skilled at auto body repair and all things mechanical and electrical. His interest was clear early. As a teen, Dick had managed to acquire and surreptitiously store off-site at least two fixer-upper cars at the ages of 14 and 15 to avoid pesky parental oversight. One of Dick's triumphs as a young adult ensued after graduating from Old Town High School in 1977 when he fixed up a Plymouth Barracuda and took a road trip to Kansas with his good friend Gene. Together they managed to make their destination with the not surprising need to replace the engine before making the return trip back to Maine. Later he operated his own business, Jordan's Auto Body, on the Bradley Rd in the 90s, and later worked as a mechanic for his friend Bruce and for relatives and Argyle neighbors who benefited from his expertise and patience that skilled auto body work requires. Dick was not a fan of Maine winters and never quite gave up on the dream of the distant, warmer climate of California he remembered from his youth. Nonetheless, Dick was proud to have recently built a house in Argyle on the old homestead that's been in the family for generations. In later life Dick appreciated keeping in contact by phone with relatives and friends, near and far. Dick was especially appreciative of his cousins who checked in with him regularly. The family is thankful to the nurses and doctors at EMMC, and to Northern Light Hospice who provided compassionate assistance to Dick and the family during his last days, and allowed him to return home where he was most comfortable. Dick had a lifelong affinity for cats, whether it was caring for stray cats at Camp Pendleton, California, where the family lived in the 60s, or for caring for his cat in his new Argyle home. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Old Town Animal Orphanage in Dick's name would be a fitting tribute."
