[56236] The unverified file LZX8-6L1 in familysearch.org offers: "When William Herman Hunt was born on 19 May 1792, in Gorham, Cumberland, Massachusetts, United States, his father, Capt Oliver Hunt, was 37 and his mother, Sarah Jackson Morse, was 31. He married Nizolla Gould on 9 October 1811, in Dixfield, Oxford, Massachusetts, United States. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 5 daughters. He lived in Oxford, Maine, United States in 1830 and Sherman, Aroostook, Maine, United States in 1840. He died on 11 October 1865, in Patten, Penobscot, Maine, United States, at the age of 73, and was buried in Sherman Corner Cemetery #1, Sherman, Aroostook, Maine, United States."
[23580] Full identification was given by Earnest C. Haws. J.T. James was shot a month after his marriage to Dora. There is a J.T. James buried at the Cope Cemetery in Johnson County, Texas, which may be this J.T. James. He is the son of R. F. & S. J. James. Born 21 Jul, 1859 died 25 Jan 1880. In the same cemetery is the following family: J. P. James 29 Nov 1852 - 21 Mar 1877 Susa Jane James, wife of J.P. 15 Jan 1840 - 5 Mar 1904 Martha E. James d. 12 Feb 1877 age 13 years R. F. James 23 Mar 1834 - 3 Jun 1925 Sarah James, dau of R.F. & S. J. 1 Jul 1865 - 18 Dec 1878. Ancestry.com offers: "James Name Meaning - English: from a personal name that has the same origin as Jacob. However, among English speakers, it is now felt to be a separate name in its own right. This is largely because in the Authorized Version of the Bible (1611) the form James is used in the New Testament as the name of two of Christ's apostles (James the brother of John and James the brother of Andrew), whereas in the Old Testament the brother of Esau is called Jacob. The form James comes from Latin Jacobus via Late Latin Jac(o)mus, which also gave rise to Jaime, the regular form of the name in Spanish (as opposed to the learned Jacobo). See also Jack and Jackman. This is a common surname throughout the British Isles, particularly in South Wales."
[54760] Mattie is daughter of Jasper Kane (1860-1925) & Sarah Maria Reeves (1866-1947; m. in 1883 in ME).
