He had four sons and six daughters with Lydia Rebuck. He died on March 21, 1884, at the age of 52." "Northumberland County Democrat [Sunbury, PA], 23 May 1884," p. 2: "Notice is hereby given that letters of administration on the estate of Philip S. Reitz, late of Washington twp, Northumberland county, dec'd, have been granted to the undersigned, to whom all persons knowing themselves indebted are requested to make payment, and those having claims or demands will make the same known without delay. JOEL REITZ, Adm'r."

She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel J. Leighton in 1961, and by a son, Stanley, in 1983."
