She lived in Prince, Prince Edward Island, Canada for about 10 years. She died on 28 December 1976, in Brewer, Penobscot, Maine, United States, at the age of 87, and was buried in Bangor, Penobscot, Maine, United States."
This line is from the unverified Powers Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2012 - it is highly unlikely that John lived to be well over 100! This tree states John m. in Aberdeenshire in 1683 Jeanette Steele (b. ca. 1664).
"The History of the Morison or Morrison Family," Leonard A. Morrison; Salt Lake City; Filmed by the Genealogical Society of Utah; US/CAN Film #1036281, p. 67: "During reign of James 1st of England, a large portion of Ireland fell to King James. To subdue the Irish he induced immigration of Scots in 1612. They were rigid Presbyterians & a bitter feud ensued between the Irish Catholics and the Scottish Protestants. In 1641 there was a massacre of Protestants & over 40,000 perished. Oliver Cromwell, in 1649, avenged and punished the Catholics bringing peace to Ireland. On accession in 1660 of Charles II to throne of England, he appointed his brother, James as Viceroy of Scotland. (James later became James II). James was a bigoted Catholic and the Scottish Presbyterians were the target of his hatred. Thousands of Scots were slaughtered and many fled to Ireland. John Morrison of Londonderry, NH, who died in 1736 was born in Scotland and was among those who fled after the siege of Londonderry, Ireland in 1688-89. Lieutenant Robert Morrison and Captain James Morrison also took part in the battle and were declared traitors by King James in 1689.
