She was born July 2, 1925, in Blue Hill, the daughter of Walter H. and Hilda M. (Candage) Black. Barbara graduated from George Stevens Academy in 1943, and attended the Maine School of Commerce for a year. She worked at Webber's Cove Boat Yard for 27 years, Lambin, Silver & VanPelt for five years, and for the Fenn Family of Ellsworth for many years. She was a charter member of the Christmas Club of Surry. She is survived by a son, Jimmy Carter of Surry; a daughter, Susan McDonald and her husband, Ray of Surry; a brother, Robert Black and his wife, Barbara of East Blue Hill; a sister, Ruby Hunt; an aunt, Ruth Carter of Ellsworth; four grandchildren, Matthew, Torrey, Richard, and Layne, all of Surry; a sister-in-law, Lee Leach of East Blue Hill; several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Almon R. Carter; and a brother, Richard Black. Landon: "In land record book 2G page 82 dated 9 Nov 1821 15 acres of Christopher Clouse Sr.'s land was sold for 300 dollars by his heirs: John Clouse & Christina his wife of Wayne County, Ohio; Christopher Clouse & Mary his wife; William Clouse & Lydia his wife; Mathias Myers & Catharine his wife; John Newkirk & Christiana his wife; John Wilson attorney for Jacob Clouse & Mary his wife and James Craven all of Washington County, Pennsylvania. John Clouse and Christiana his wife of Wayne County in the State of Ohio came 26 May 1823 to sign for their share. By 1814 John Newkirk and his wife, Christiana also went to Wayne County, Ohio. So John and Christiana Clouse of Wayne County, Ohio had a son Jacob who was in Coshocton County, Ohio and later went to around Marshall, Illinois. Jacob Jr. (Jake) was born there and then went to Fredericktown, Missouri where he died."

"The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 10 November 1962, p. 22: "Penobscot - Dwight Wilford Leach, 53, died suddenly at his home here Friday. A medical examiner ruled that death was caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound, He was born at Penobscot, November 8, 1909, son of Harris and Evelyn (Wardwell) Leach. He was a member of the Rising Star Lodge of Masons Penobscot and the Penobscot Chapter 0. E. S. He is survived by his widow, Erma;: one son, Robert Leach; five daughters, Mrs. Rebecca Orcutt, Mrs. Rose Grindell, Mrs. Esther Austin, Mrs. Margaret Austin and Miss Roberta Leach, all of Penobscot; 10 grandchildren, three cousins and one niece."

"Steuben Republican [Angola, Indiana], 14 February 1906," p. 1: " Barbara Luneach Harraman - Was born in Germany, Feb. 7, 1823, and died Feb 9, 1906, aged 83 years and 2 days. Her parents immigrated to this country when she was but seven years of age. January 12, 1839, she was married to Providence Harraman, who went to rest March 10, 1897, at the age of 77 years. To this union were born ten children; Mrs. Peter Dutter at whose home she died, Mrs. H.A. Gilbert, and John and Dick Harraman who reside in Oklahoma, six children having preceded her to the other world. For nearly twenty years she and her husband were members of the Christian church, but in 1890 they were identified with the German Baptist church of Oklahoma, of which she was a faithful member. There remains two sons, two daughters, seventeen grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday Feb. 11, at South Scott church, Elder Stauffer officiating."
