[43422] Find A Grave Memorial 159663113 offers his obituary: "Barry John Haupt, 66, formerly of Bloomsburg, died Wednesday morning, March 16, 2016, as a patient of the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center in Luzerne County. Barry was a resident of his home in Wonderview for more than 17 years. Barry was born on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 1949, in Shamokin, a son of the late Howard K. and Dorothy B. (Karpinski) Haupt. Throughout his younger years, Barry attended and later graduated from Lourdes Regional High School in 1967. Immediately following his education, Barry enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1967, serving his country faithfully during the Vietnam War. Barry was stationed in Pleiku, Vietnam, with the U.S. Army Military Police, receiving the honors of the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (2nd AWD), Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with palm, two overseas bars and two service stripes. Barry was honorably discharged from his time of service to his country on Nov. 18, 1975. After returning home, he was employed throughout the Bloomsburg area for many years. He was a member of the Valley of Bloomsburg American Legion Post 273 and former member of the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include a daughter, Victoria L. Sponenberg and husband, Mark, of Bloomsburg; a daughter, Jennifer A. Anderson and husband, Michael, of Bloomsburg; a son, Jonathan J. Haupt, of Astoria, New York; a brother, David Haupt and wife, Mary Ann, of Hazleton; a sister, Deborah Reidinger, of Kennett Square; a brother, Keith Haupt and wife, Elizabeth, of Bloomsburg; a granddaughter, Teresa Crane, a grandson, Howard Sponenberg, a granddaughter, Megan Anderson, a grandson, Gabriel Anderson and a grandson, Matthew Anderson, as well as numerous nephews and nieces."
