"Daily Independent [Ridgecrest, CA]," 18 October 2012: "Paul was born in Ashland, KY to Ora and Cena Cordle.
He was a 1950 graduate of Ashland High School where he played linebacker for the 'Tomcats'. He had a lifelong love of music. He was a card carrying musician and performed in various bands, choral groups and ensembles. His love of football and music was passed down to his children and grandchildren who include many gifted athletes and performers. He married his high school sweetheart, Rilla Rice, in 1954. Paul and Rita initially lived in Atlanta, GA until he completed his engineering degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology. After three years serving his country as a pilot in the U. S. Army, Paul went to work at the Naval Ordnance Test Station in China Lake, CA. He took great pride in his and his co-workers contributions to the defense of the nation. His distinguished thirty year career was marked by numerous awards, various patents and a series of promotions. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Rilla, and his daughter, Carol, booth of whom he loved dearly. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Clyde and Pat; his three sons and their wives, Jim and Janelli, Steve and Cathy, and Dave and Eileen; twelve grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren."
