[48469] Find A Grave memorial 27075077 offers: "Shearjashub (2), son of Hon. Ezra Bourne, was born April 18, 1721, died February 9, 1781. He graduated from Harvard College in the class of 1743, and removed from Sandwich, Massachusetts, to Bristol, Rhode Island in 1748. He taught school thereafter five years. He afterwards was a prominent lawyer. He served on the committee on resolution of the town of Bristol, February 16, 1774, protesting against the attitude and acts of the Bristish government. He bought the house lately owned by James De Wolf Perry, built by Nathaniel Bosworth in 1680. During the bombardment by the British in 1775 the house was struck repeatedly, and when repairs were made in 1862 several grape shot fell from the parlor ceiling. In 1778, Mr. Bourne became chief justice of the supreme court of Rhode Island, serving in that position until his death in 1781. He married April 19, 1747, Ruth (Bosworth) Church, widow of Nathaniel Church and descendant of Nathaniel Bosworth. [24109] Girault is the eldest son of Ackland Hartley Jomes and Elizabeth Girault Shaifer. Ackland moved his family to Woodville where he then practised law; they r. on the lower Natchez Road and then at "Allendale." Ackland and Elizabeth had nine boys, including a set of twins. Girault graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1925 and from the School of Theology of the University of the South in 1928; he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He was ordained an Episcopal deacon 17 June 1928 and a priest 19 May 1929. Giurault m. (1) in April 1930 Virginia Hester Wallace of Woodvile who died seven months later. In 1931 Girault became rector of Trinity Church, Pass Christian, MS. In July 1935 he m. (2) Kathleen Platt, the Episcopal student worker at the Florida State College for Women. In 1936 he became rector of St. Andrew's Church in New Orleans and chaplain to Episcopal students at Tulane University. Two daughters were born to Girault and Kathleen in New Orleans. In 1949 he became the seventh Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana, retiring in 1969. He was a trustee of the University of the South as a priest and then as Bishop. 1939-41 he directed the Sewanee Summer Training School, the Christian education conference of the Province of Sewanee - and was president of the province, 1956-1959. He served three terms on the University's Board of Regents and in 1967 was elected sixteenth Chancellor of the University, and was interin Dean of the School of Theology at Sewanee, 1981-82. His autobiographical memoir, published in 1984, is "That Reminds Me." He was survived by his wife and their two daughters, Virginia Kathleen Callicott and Elizabeth Girault Jones Corey, three granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
