"The Perry County Times, 4 December 1947," p. 12: "Samuel J. Spotts, 77, a retired farmer, died at his home in Spring township on Wednesday after a year's illness. He was a son of Franklin and Elizabeth Jacobs Spotts, of Spring township. His wife, Mrs. Estella Grace Dunkleberger Spotts, died April 28, 1943. Mr. Spotts, a staunch Democrat, served one term as Perry County Commissioner and several terms as school director of Spring township. He was a faithful member of the St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church and Sunday School. Surviving him are the following children: Mrs. Paul McKeehan, of Blain, R. D. ; Elmer P. Spotts, of Shermans Dale ; Mrs. Clarence Bower, of Elliottsburg; John Carl Spotts, at home, and Roy M. Landislburg, R. D.; also, one brother, Franklin P., of Landisburg, R. D.; one sister, Mrs. Charles White, of Carlisle, R. D., and one half-brother, Sylvester Spotts, of Oberlin, Kansas, and eleven gnandcbildren. A brief funeral service was held at the residence on Saturday at 10:30 a. m., with further services in the St. Peter's Church, his pastor, the Rev. Paul R.
