[58534] Lloyd served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. "Kennebeck Journal," 20 August 2011: "Lloyd E. Bowden, age 66, passed away on Aug 18, 2011 at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta. He was born on Feb 13, 1945 to Christine Harrington and Benjamin Bowden in Augusta, Maine. He grew up building race cars with his father before joining the U.S. Navy. Where he was a cook. After the Navy he was a mechanic, truck driver and did sand blasting in Massachusetts where he met the love of his life, Wanda Mae Wysote. After moving back to Maine he worked at B. I.W. for 20 years prior to retirement. Lloyd married the love of his life, Wanda, who he was with for 31 years. Out of those 31 years, he brought her lunch every day for 17 years. He fell in love with her and the Native American culture, and went to every pow-wow with her. He would always hold her, give her kisses and was the one person that could always make her laugh. Lloyd is watching over his wife of 30 years, Wanda Bowden; his children, Dawn Atkins, Amanda Bowden, Ben Bowden, Lloyd Bowden Jr., Jacqueline Bowden, Caroline Cram and husband David, Christine Bowden, Rickey Bowden and wife Patience; and many nieces and nephews. He is now with his brother, Robert Bowden, and sister, Ramona Bowden."

Alexander, 74, of 3548 Yellow Creek rd., died Wednesday at Akron General Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Alexander's father, Otto Harter, founded the former Akron Pure Milk Co. Her husband, Clair B., is retired president and general manager of the company. Her brother, Fred, founded Reiter and Harter Dairy. Mrs. Alexander was a life resident of Akron. She is a member of the Ghent Christian Church. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Clair B. Jr., Akron; daughter Jane H., Bath Twp., brother Bert H. Harter, Key West, Fla.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services will be at 1 p. m. Saturday at Billow Fairlawn chapel where friends may call from 7 to 9 p. m. Friday. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery."

He and wife Edith were among the 30 original members of the Salem Church and he became a freeman with the first group of settlers on 18 May 1631. His residence was on the Rial Side of Salem, now Beverly, MA, and he joined the new First Church of Beverly in 1667. He is probably son of goldsmith William Herrick who was unexpectedly knighted in 1605 for drilling a hole in King James' favorite diamond. See "The History of Salem, Massachusetts," Sidney Perley (Salem, MA), Vol. 1, p. 305 which lists his children with Edith, and states that she survived him.
