[13848] "The Daily Item [Sunbury, Pennsylvania], 10 Mar 1979," p. 8: "Dornsife - Earl R. Geist, 83, Red Cross, Dornsife RD, a retired lumberman, was pronounced dead at l p.m. Friday on arrival in the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was taken by the Dalamtia ambulance. He had been in ill health for the past two years. Mr. Geist was a resident of the Red Cross area for the past 48 years and previously lived in Leck Kill. He worked as a lumberman as a young man and was employed by Tressler Lumber Co., Trevorton, for 35 years before retiring. He was a member of Himmel's United Church of Christ, Rebuck; and served in the Army during World War I. Born in Leck Kill Nov. 9, 1895, he was a son of the late Wilson H. and Helen Koppenhaver Geist. Surviving are his wife, the former Florence Deitz, whom he married in 1920; a daughter, Mrs. Peggy Ann Latsha, of Schuylkill Haven; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Lester Geist of Leck Kill; and sister, Mrs. Verdle Mattern, a guest at the Friendly Home, Pitman."
