[1360] NEHGR, Vol. CXV, p. 255: "From the records of the Skinner's Co., London: '1605, 26th June. William Cheever, son of James Cheever of Mansfield, in the county of Nottingham, yeoman, hath putt himselfe apprentice with Ralph Hill citizen, and Skinner from the same feaste last past (St. John Baptist) for 8 years.' '1613, 4 June, William Cheever admitted to Freedom.' '1616/17, 9th March, Christopher Cheever, sonne of James Cheever, late of Mansfield in the countie of Nottingham, yeoman, deceased, hath put himself apprentice to William Cheever, citizen and Skynner of London from Candlemas last past for eight years.' From marriages at All Hallowes, Lombard Street, London: ' 1613/14, 6 Jan., William Cheever and Margaret Newman.' Following this is written in another colored ink: 'not in the due place.' This indicates that they were probably married by license, but not in the church. From the parish register of Mansfield, co. Notts: ' Sept. 14, 1582, James Cheever and Agnes Walker' [married]." NEHGR July 1882, p. 305ff., offers descendants of Bartholomew and Richard, who connect to this time..

[29263] See the unverified information at http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/c/o/r/Karin-B-Corbeil/GENE3-0013.html in 2009 which reports: "Daniel Eddy/Edy was the last New Englander of the Eddy Line. He was born Abt 1740 at Salisbury, Conn., the eldest of the four sons and three daughters of Captain Zachariah Eddy. The brothers of Daniel were, Newbury, Asa and Abner. Daniel lived in Salisbury, Conn. until he was about seven., then spent the next seventeen years in Gloucester, RI. He married Sarah Jones at Belchertown, MA in 1769. Between 1770 and 1776, Daniel and family left Mass for the new lands opening up in the Hampshire Grants in Vermont. According to family history, Newbury Eddy settled in Wethersfield, VT. on the west bank of the Connecticut River 43 miles North of the Mass border. It is possible that Daniel settled near by. Daniel Eddy's children were, Daniel, Joyce, Benjamin, Newbury and Omri. This family were British Loyalists. It was disturbing to them that the peace treaty between set the 45th parallel as the boundary between Quebec and Vermont. To be certain of living under the British flag, the family moved north. However when the official survey was done it showed them still within the USA border. This necessitated another move. This found them settling and farming in Clarenceville, Quebec. The Edy's of Canada are mainly the descendents of two of Daniel Eddy's children, Newbury and Omri."

Sancho married (1) a daughter of Gelindus, Count of Aragon, and (2) Toda of Aragon, daughter of Azuarius{ref.Carr P. Collins, Jr., "Royal Ancestors..."}. He added the county of Aragon to his Basque kingdom of Navarre {-Encycl.Brit., 1956 Ed., 21:117}. Sancho reigned 905-926. "Meyers Konversations-lexikon" (1890) states: "The oldest known inhabitants of Navarre were the Vascones, descendants of the old Iberians. ...The inhabitants of Navarre used the dissension within the Franconian Empire to gain their independence and chose Sancho Garcia as their Count, who conquered Pamplona and the area on the Aragon and gave himself the name King of Navarre in 905."
An alternate ancestry is proposed by Bryant Smith Austin (skip1@netcom.com) 12/98 based on recent research by Spanish genealogists (not verified by AEM): Sancho is son of Garcia Jimenez of Najerra (#24522 in my database) who m. (1) Dadildis of Pallars (mother of Sancho) and (2) Onneca "Rebelde de Sanguesa" - see elsewhere in this database for further proposed family. See discussion of this line in http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/NAVARRE.htm.
http://www.san.beck.org/AB17-FeudalEurope.html offers: "In Navarre a Basque kingdom developed around Pamplona under King Sancho I (r. 905-926)."
