[2084] Her ancestry is from Bryant Smith Austin (skip1@netcom.com) 12/98 based on recent research by Spanish genealogists (not verified by AEM). She is said to be "of Castile." Perhaps Elvira Garces, Princess of Navarre, is the mother of Bermudo II rather than his wife; this family tree is fuzzy. Leon van de Pas' website, http://www.genealogics.org, calls her "Elvira Garcia of Castile, Regent of Leon."

Dict. of the First Settlers of New England," Vol. 2: "Richard, Salem, came from London in the Abigail 1635, aged 23, a pewter, had bapt. there, in right of his w. who was rec. into the ch. just bef. three ch. at once, 14 Mar.1641; Joseph, 16 Oct. 1642; Benjamin and Eliz. I suppose tw. 6 Ag.1645; Mary, 16 April 1648; Richard, 6 Oct. 1650; Hannah, 15 Aug. 1652; and Deliverance, 16 July 1654." "Pioneers of Massachusetts" states he was a husbandman (farmer). He worked part-time as a pewterer, but is best known as a delightfully irresponsible character out of step with the Puritan environment of Massachusetts. His widow, Dorothy, is known from Essex Co. [8691] Richard Hughes (rhugh@adelphia.net) posted on GenForum 30 July 2003: "I believe the father of Nathaniel McFann (b. ca. 1803 in Martic twp, Lancaster Co., PA) was William McFann, not Aaron McFann as some others have stated. Aaron McFann Jr. would be son of Aaron McFann Sr., William's brother. Aaron, David, William and Robert (found in the 1801-09 Martic tax lists) are believed to be sons of Nathaniel McFann. Nathaniel is believed to be a brother of John, Daniel and an unknown McFann (probably David) and are the first immigrants of the McFann clan to America in the late 1700's. They most likely came from Londonderry Co. in Northern Ireland." See notes for Sarah, Aaron's wife. Ancestry.com offers: "Mcfann Name Meaning - Variant of Irish McVann, itself a variant of McBean."

This web site further offers: "From Carolyn Simmons Tschudi: The father of our Simmons Family in America was Moyses Symonson. He came to America on the Ship Fortune, arriving at Plymouth Rock on November 9, 1621. There were 35 passengers on board, he being the 27th. His father, Willem Simmonszoon, born about 1575, and mother Ann, born about 1580, stayed in Leyden, Holland. He was a member of the Dutch Reform Church. Moses was born in 1602, and was nineteen when he arrived here in Plymouth Colony. He was called a French Wallon in the book, 'Saints and Strangers'. His friend who he came with on the Fortune was Philip de la Noye. According to the reference from 'Pilgrim Fathers', by E. Arber, pages 155, 156 and 159, Willem Simmonszoon lived near the church in Leyden. He purchased on the east side, a certain small room from John de Lalaing in Bell Alley, Leyden, on 26 May 1611. This being near Pieters Kerch (St. Peter's Church). The other owners of said house are Jan Robinson, William Jepson, Henry Wood, and Ravnulp (Ralph) Tickens, is known as Groene Port (Green Gate). The pilgrims of Plymouth had a very difficult winter in 1620, many of them died that first year. Of the 104 who came to Plymouth, only 51 were survivors when the Fortune came the following year. Moses was given 40 acres as a single person in 1627 at Plymouth. He married Sarah in 1632. They lived in Plymouth, Bridgewater and Duxbury, MA. He died in Duxbury in September 1691." Ancestry.com offers: "Simmons Name Meaning - English (southern): patronymic either from the personal name Simon (see Simon) or, as Reaney and Wilson suggest, from the medieval personal name Simund (composed of Old Norse sig victory + mundr protection), which after the Norman Conquest was taken as an equivalent Simon, with the result that the two names became confused."

[48940] Tonya's obituary: "Tonya Elaine Wardwell, 71, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 30, 20l6 at Mars Hill. Tonya was the eldest sibling of five children born to Calvin and Faye (Bowels) Wardwell of Perham. Tonya was a loving daughter and sweet older sister, teaching her siblings to read, write, recite poetry, and ride a bicycle. She had a beautiful soprano voice and was often called on to sing by friends and family. She is survived by her mother, Faye Wardwell of Perham, her two sisters and brothers in law, Linda and Robert James of Pioneer, California, Ruth and David Brown of Palm Bay, Florida, her two brothers and sisters in law, Samuel and Paula Wardwell of Edgewood, New Mexico, and Scott and Angela Wardwell of Presque Isle. Several nieces and nephews."
