[12515] John and Catherine r. Pike Twp., Stark Co., OH at the 1850 census. The York Co., PA court records show a petition 14 May 1811 which resulted in an order 17 Sept 1811 that a John Brillhart pay the "widow and children" (mother and minor siblings?). Robert K. Nelson gives his (unverified) descendants in his Family Tree Maker online database (10/98) at http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/n/e/l/Robert-K-Nelson/ODT2-0030.html. A note in Genealogy.com offers:"John Brillhart moved with his wife Catherine Dowe to Ohio some time in the 1820s. They already had three sons, Daniel, born abt. 1815, Jacob, born abt. 1817, and Peter, born abt. 1820, plus one daughter, Mary, born about 1819. They moved from York Co., Pennsylvania first to Seneca [is this the Seneca in Venango Co., PA?] where Moses was born, then to Canton, Stark Co., Ohio, finally settling in Pike Township, Stark Co., Ohio. After reaching there, Christian, and Peter, John's brothers, also moved to Stark Co., Ohio. Peter didn't stay long, moving on to Illinois, as did Barbara with her husband Daniel Horner." [But we know Daniel Horner died in Pennsylvania before Barbara moved on with her family/]

[2110] Lord of Bramber and Ranor, Wales; built (with father) the Bramber Castle; dispossessed Glodrydd and held court at Builth, Wales, building a castle there. He held the manor of Radnor under the Lordship of Ralph Mortimer. See discussion of him in "Falaise Roll" (Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co., 1994), pp. 35-36. Cf. http://freespace.virgin.net/doug.thompson/BraoseWeb/index1.htm. http://www.angelfire.com/wa3/chrisbarttels/n_17.html offers: "de Braiose, Philip 2nd Lord of Bramber (b. Abt 1070, d. 1134-1155) Note: Of Bramber, Sussex. Weis, "Ancestral Roots", page 152. Lord of Braiose, now Briouze (Normandy), Lord of Bramber (Sussex), Lord of Radnor and Builth, jure uxoris Lord of Totnes (Devonshire). Succeeded his father William I de Braiose, Lord of Bramber, first of the line in England. Supported Henry I but revolted against him in 1110, his estates being confiscated, but he regained possession of them in 1112 (DWB 49-9). R. J. Curfman, 'The Yale Descent from Braiose and Clare Through Pigott of Buckinghamshire', TAG 56:1" Cf. "Medieval Ancestors of Certain Americans," Carl Boyer III (Santa Clarita, CA, 2001), p. 39. Doug Thompson states (http://freespace.virgin.net/doug.thompson/BraoseWeb/index1.htm): "Philip confirmed his father's gifts to the abbey of St. Florent in 1096. He was the first Braose Lord of Builth and Radnor, their initial holding in the Welsh Marches. Philip seems to have gone on the 1st Crusade and returned in 1103. He built the Norman church of St Nicolas (right) at Old Shoreham and founded the port of New Shoreham. His lands were confiscated by Henry I in 1110, due to his traitrous support of William, son of Robert Curthose but they were returned in 1112." Thompson further offers: "There are charters where Robert de Harcourt's sons, Philip and Richard, refer to Philip de Braose as 'patruus' - paternal uncle. This lends weight to the theory that Robert de Harcourt and Philip de Braose were both sons of Eve de Boissey. In another record dated 1103 (Pipe Roll Soc. Vol 71 no 544) it is stated that Philip de Braose was represented by 'his brother Robert, the son of Anketill'." Also see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_de_Braose.
