William Fackler died this morning. Mr. Fackler was born In Ohio 73 years ago. He served In the civil war and was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic. He was also a member of the Modern Woodmen and the Methodist church at Tolono. Mr. and Mrs. Fackler have lived in Champaign for a number of years. Surviving are his widow and me following children: George Fackler of Sadorus, Mrs. Anna Pettit of Birllngton, Wash., who has been with her three weeks: Alex Fackler, of this city; Edward Fackler, of Logansport. Ind.; Mrs. Lizzie Madden, of Badoms; Harry Fackler, of Bloomington; Charles and Alonzo Fackler, of Mount Vernon, Wash.; Walter Fackler, of Chicago, and Miss Myrtle, at home. Mrs. Smith waa born in Brooksville, July 24, 1853, the daughter of the late Charles and Lydla Perkins. She was married in 1873 to the late Albert M. Wardwell, who was lost at sea. One son was born to them, M. A. Wardwell, M. D., of Penobscot. Nine years later she was married to I. Newton Smith of South Hancock, by whom she had another son, Mark I. Smith of Bangor. She again left a widow and was obliged to assume the care of her two boys. . . . She is survived by her two sons, four grandchildren, one brother, Capt. C. M. Perkins, one sister Mrs. Emma Wardwell, many nephews and nieces, and a host of friends in this and surrounding towns."

(1) Elizabeth (_____) and (2) Mrs. Mary (Tilden) Lapham (wid. of Thomas), who was bapt. 20 May 1610 at Tenterden, co. Kent, the dau. of Nathaniel Tilden." A footnote on "Gen. Notes of Barnstable Families" reports "His wife Mary presented the inventory of his estate, May 12, 1667, and took the oath required. The names Mary and Elizabeth were formerly considered synonymous, and it may be that Mary was not his second wife." The text states "His wife was named Elizabeth and it is stated by Judge Mitchell that she was probably a Tilden." The proposed Tilden ancestry is given in this database. However, "The Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England, 1620-1633" states William Bassett m. "(1) By 1623 (and probably by 1621) Elizabeth _____, probably also a passenger on the Fortune in 1621; she appears in no record after 1627, and may have died soon after the birth of the last child about 1634, or she may have lived until just before William Bassett married his second wife. (2) After 1651, and before 12 December 1664 Mary (Tilden) Lapham, daughter of Nathaniel Tilden, widow of Thomas Lapham; she was living at Bridgewater as late as 28 March 1690."
