[24060] The 1850 federal census taken 7 Sept in Jefferson, William Co., OH shows the family of George Dorshimer (age 39, farmer) to include Catharine (41, wife), Henry (18, farming), Sarah (20), Jacob (11) and George (unclear) - the parents and the two eldest children were b. in PA. The 1870 census 29 June of Jefferson shows George (59, farmer), Catherine (61, keeping house), George W. (20, farm laborer), Sarah (39, "at home"), Martha Judy (17, domestic servant) and Henry Myers (20, farm laborer).
[13539] Mary is daughter of Michael Easterday and Amelia Royer (per family Bible, re: Howard G. Lanham, 2756 Stone Road, Westminster, MD 21158-1830 [3/98]). The LDS Church's unverified IGI file shows an Amelia Royce m. 11 March 1852 in Richland Co., OH to a Michael Easterday - this is probably the couple with her surname mis-transcribed. Howard G. Lanham (howardl@carr.org) shared in June, 2003 via email: "I am the family historian for the Ostertag-Easterday Association and attempt to trace the various Easterday lines for the association. It appears that Esther Mahetable ('Hettie') Jackson married John Easterday June 04, 1835 in Knox Co., Ohio. He was the son of Michael Easterday (d. 1849) of Wayne Co., Ohio. I am uncertain just when John Easterday died, but he is not listed in the 1850 census. They did have at least one daughter, Philena Easterday (September 13, 1837-June 19, 1932), who married Whitfield Smith Condit. She has a descendant, Elizabeth Fay who has done work on the family. Philena Easterday appears as Philena Wise in the 1850 census, but I have no doubt that she was Esther's child not Henry's. Philena Condit is mentioned also in an old Easterday reunion list from the early 1900s. There was also a child Abbey who was two years younger than Philena in the 1850 census, but I am uncertain whose child she was. I hope this is some help to you and please if you turn up any additional information about the Easterdays in this family group drop me an e-mail."

[741] This person is from One World Tree on Ancestry.com which is not verified. Mark Honey ("The Ellsworth American" [Ellsworth, ME], 28 Aug 2008, p. 6) states Nathaniel Jr. was b. ca. 1705 and reports that he was apprenticed to Benjamin Stone of York while a teenager. Honey states "Nathaniel, at the age of 14, stole his indenture papers and burned them, presumable to be free of his obligations to Stone. He was brought before the court, and sentenced to be whipped, only to have his punishment remitted after he apologized and promised to be faithful to his master. Nathaniel was one of countless young men who would be indentured in the 18th century, and no doubt, one of many who rebelled under the sometimes harsh conditions of an apprenticeship." Honey reports that Nathaniel m. (2) 31 July 1751 Naomi Whittam of Kittery and states "in the late 1750s, towards the end of the French and Indian War, Nathaniel moved north with his family, towards the Penobscot River, and in 1761, or shortly thereafter, crossed the river and settled in what is now North Castine." Honey lists children of both marriages.
