George is in the list of militia paid off at Fort Pitt (Pittsburgh, PA) in 1775 - "Historical Register of Virginians in the Revolution," John H. Gwathmey, p. 84. George's service in the War for Independence earned him six rations as indicated in "Virginia Revolutionary Publick Claims," Janice L. Abercrombie and Richard Slatten (Iberian Pub. Co., Athens, GA: 1992), p. 682 - available at the Virginia State Library's Archives Division [LC: E263.V8; Dewey: 973.3/1]. In this accounting his surname is spelled Boydstone. He resided in Westmoreland County, PA (or Monongalia County, VA) as this area was claimed by both states prior to the Revolution. His claim is also in the Monogalia Co., (West) Virginia, Court Book, p. 8 - and he was paid 13 May 1783. George and his brother David are on the 1793 tax list in Green Co., PA - they came to Dunkard Creek as early as 1784 and George sold his land there in 1811 to move to Ohio - see "The Boydston-Boydstun Family - Third Edition," Gladys Boystun Domonoske (Davis, CA: 1980), p. 84. [The 1825 tax list for Wayne Co., OH shows both a Boaz and a David Boydstone as a 'resident proprietor' - "Early Ohio Tax Records," Esther Weygandt Powell (Ohio Gen. Society; 1971), pp. 422-423 - which also shows, p. 418, George, Sr. with 173 acres in the NE quarter of section 4?, Twp. 17, Range 12, as well as Thomas and two other Georges. A George Boydston purchased Virginia Military School Lands in Wayne Co., OH according to the list in "The Ohio Repository" (Canton, OH) 5 & 12 Nov 1819.]

George is a son of David Boydstone/Boydston (etc.) who is the principal in the outline I have. Probably most of this information comes from Glady's Domonoske's book on the Boydstuns -- but you will find notes here and there that may give you a better idea of the source.
Deescendants of George Boydston - Generation No. 1:
1. GEORGE5 BOYDSTON (DAVID4, WILLIAM3 BOYLSTON, THOMAS2, THOMAS1) was b. 1746 in date from DAR {{SEE NOTES}} (Talbot Co, MD?), and died 18 Nov 1825 in Wooster, Wayne Co, OH. He married EUNICE BURRIS Bet. 1768 - 1772 in Hampshire Co, WV, daughter of JOHN BURRIS and ELIZABETH BOAZ. She was b. 1753, and died 07 May 1824. Most sources say George was b. in 1737 in Talbot County, Maryland, which seems impossible, as his father would have been only 11 years old, and his mother 6. Either the date is wrong, or George is a brother, not a son, of David Boydstun -- or, of course, the birth date of David is incorrect. For the purposes of this outline, however, I have chosen to enter the birth date for David as accepted by NSDAR, as explained in other places. However, since so many researchers attribute this George Boydstun who married Eunice Burris (including the DAR, who says he was b. 1746) to David and M. Snow, I have included him in this family group. George Boydstun moved with the Burris family to Pennsylvania and served in the Revolution from there. According to Domonoske, he lived at Dunkard Creek in 1784, Perry Township, Greene Co, Pennsylvania, and later in Wayne County, OH. Deed Book 3, p. 83, Greene Co, PA 10 Dec 1813. George Boydstone and Eunice of Whitely Twp, Wayne County, OH, to Reuben Brown 157 acres part of "Toby" patented to George Boilstone 8 Dec 1789. Listed on Greene Township, Washington Co, PA tax list 1793. George Boidstone came to Dunkard Creek from Virginia as early as 1784. The patents granted David and George Boilston were on Dunkard Creek in Perry Township. George Boydstone sold his land on Dunkard Creek in 1811 and moved to Wayne County, OH (Domonoske, p. 92). Some sources say he died in Maryland. He apparently served in the Revolution in Monogalia County, West Virginia, or from Pennsylvania. Came to Dunkard Creek from Virginia as early as 1784 with David. His wife and David's wife were sisters. A will apparently exists. Lana Anderson refers to 'Will Abstracts, Estates and Guardianships, Wayne County, OH 1812-1851.' Volumes I & II: 'George Boydstun; executors George and Thomas Boydstun. Mentions sons William (deceased), George, David, Thomas S., daughter Elizabeth, Ester, Unice, Polly Belinda. He married HANNAH CUNNINGHAM _____ in Lookout Mountain, TN, daughter of DAVID CUNNINGHAM. She was b. 11 Aug 1805, and died _____. Chuck Boydstun records the first child of this couple as being Edward Boydston with no additional information except that Edward had a son named Wayne. Additionally, he did not list a son Evan C. Boydston supplied by Melalee Camack (james.camak@verizon.net) in the mid-1980s. In October 1998, Bobby J. Wadsworth, a descendant of Unity Boydstun and John Polk Howell, writes that David C. Boydston, child of Thomas Boydstun, appears incorrectly as "Evan C." on the 1880 US Census of Wise County, Tx, with all the children listed previously for Evan C. Boydston (by Melalee) and David C. (by Chuck Boydstun). His son-in-law, John Polk Howell, is recorded just four houses away. Clearly, Melalee's information was based on the 1880 census, and should be disregarded, and the information previously attributed to "Evan C." should be applied to David Cunningham Boydston. As to the family's location in TN, Ray B. Womack writes October 27, 1998 that the Boydstons were located in Lookout Mountain Valley, (sometimes called Lookout Valley) rather than on Lookout Mountain, which may have been implied by "near Lookout Mt." in various references to the family. He further states that they had a large spread on the TN River, which is partly owned by today's descendants. They had a ferry service on the river. (Note: Ray Womack's mother is Mary Ann Burkhart Womack, raised in Dade County, GA, which adjoins the TN state line. He was raised in Rossville, GA, which is just around the bend from Lookout Mountain Valley.) Ray B. Womack writes again October 29, 1998, questioning the Mississippi to (Alabama?) to TN migration, stating that the migration is usually westward, rather than eastward. While this is certainly a consideration, it's not impossible. The early children are said to be b. in Mississippi, Unity alone in Alabama, and the rest in TN. These births would support an eastward migration. I have asked Ray to check whatever census records he may have of TN to see if clues may lie in that direction as to the birth location of the children. This line is supported by information in Gladys Domonoske's book, and the line of Melalee Camac is accepted by the DAR back to David Boidstone. No Boydstuns appear in the 1820 Census Index of Mississippi. The 1830 Census Index of Mississipi has the following information: Boydstun, Thomas - Warr, 212 1-0-0-1-0 - 4-0-0-1-0 (WFT Vol. 13, pedigree #344 also shows Edward as a son of Thomas, and b. 1822-1848 (WFT estimate). These dates do not correlate with the census above. This Edward is to have had a son Wayne, no further information.)

He married SARAH GALBRAITH 1832. She was b. _____. Dr. Benjamin S. Boydston was b. on 10 Mar 1809 in Greene County, PA and was converted under H.A. Sheldon's preaching about 1825 in Wayne County, OH. He was confirmed about 1825 in Wayne County, OH and was the first member of the M. E. Church received by Rev. Sheldon. He was ordained between 1827 and 1829 in Wayne County, OH. Licensed 1827 to exhort; 1829 to preach. He was a Methodist Circuit preacher in 1829 to Wyandot County, OH, and preached four years, first on the Wyandotte Circuit, then for three years on the Norwalk Circuit. His voice broke in 1833 and he changed to the practice of medicine. He taught General U.S. Grant in school in 1838 in Georgetown, Brown County, OH. He practiced medicine between 1839 and 1889, and was an "Underground Railroad" Volunteer before 1860 in OH. He died in 24 Oct 1899 in Atwood, Kosciusko County, IN. He died in 1886 in Warsaw, Wayne Township, Kosciusko County, IN. His widow, Hester A. Nutt is listed as widow of Nelson in the Warsaw City Directory 1888-1889. He was also known as Nelson McNutt. She was b. 17 May 1834 in AR, and died 19 Jan 1916 in Stonewall Co, TX. DAVID CUNNINGHAM BOYDSTUN: Chuck Boydstun supplies information and children on this marriage. He says that David first married Sherena and married Heddie second in 1855. He has Sherena bearing children from 1854 to 1877. This alone causes a problem, as with this scenareo, Sherena continued to bear children after her husband married a second time. [I previously had only Unity b. 1856 as a daughter of Heddie Cunningham (the only wife). Chuck supplies the complete birth date of this child, 16 Dec 1856. Note that Abel is b. 1854 and the remainder of the children attributed to Sherena are b. after 1860 -- a 5-year span that easily accomodates a gap between marriages. Could David Boydstun first have married Heddie in 1855 (David would be 20 years old at this point), having the child Unity in 1856? Since Chuck Boydstun says they were married in Benton County, AR, this choice of Heddie as first wife conforms to the migration of David, b. in TN, moving to AR, and later to Texas. Then Abel would probably be the child of Heddie, since he was also b. in AR and the rest of the children (b. after 1860) were b. in Texas.] Now, in October 1998, Bobby J. Wadsworth, a descendant of Unity Boydston, writes with information that David C. Boydston married Sherena Elizabeth Barnhill, and has no information on a first wife. She shows the family in Williamson County, TX in 1860: With him are his wife and two children, Abel (age 5) and Unity (age4). Another child, John Boydston, age 1, died March 1860 of winter fever.
Two marriages are certainly possible, and I will certainly keep the references in the notes, but prefer for now, to attribute all the children to Sherena Elizabeth Barnhill, who, according to Bobby Wadsworth, also lived in Benton County, AR. The original information on the marriage to Heddie comes from Domonoske's book on the Boydstun family (3rd Edition, p. 81), which, although quite comprehensive, is known to contain many errors. Until one of our family researchers is able to substantiate this marriage... Deeds show that David Boydston bought land in Williamson County in April 1870. The 1900 Census of Stonewall Co, TX shows David C. Boydston b. Oct 1831 (AL?) with wife Elizabeth b. May 1834 AR and children William B. (b. May 1860 TX), Amanda E. (b. Apr 1866 TX), and Henry (b. They marched to Winchester March 10-12 and to Strasburg on 27 March. The unit conducted operatinos in the Shenandoah Valley until April, then had duty at Warrenton, Virginia 2 April to 22 May, including reconnaissaice to the Rappahannock River on 7 April. He was ordered to Washington, D.C. on 12 May and mustered out on 14 May 1862. The regiment lost a total of 16 men -- one to action, 15 to disease. Lyn Kurcina (lipikas@aol.com) offered 1 Dec 2000 via email: "In Glady's Domonske's book The Boydston/Boydstun Family, she lists "Thomas b. in 1787, d 1863, m Emily, daughter of Boaz" as George and Eunice Burris's youngest son. (page 108-109). She lists Thomas and Emily's children as: Charles, Boaz, Delinda, Presley, Enoch, Mary. Eunice Burris/Burroughs married George Boydston and Hester Ann Burris/Burroughs married David (Jr.) You probably know this. I've been researching David Jr. As the stories were told, David and George traveled together and fought together in the American Revolution. I've found records for them together in Frederick VA, Monongalia county, VA and Greene County, PA. Generally the records show David (Jr.), George, and the Burris/Burroughs together. Hester Ann and Eunice Burris/Burroughs's mother Elizabeth Burroughs is buried behind the Methodist Church in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania. David Boydston (Jr.) and Esther his wife's gravestones are still there. David Boydston gave the land for this church. My late grandmother has some information that I received with her geneology research, including this statement "David and Esther Ann (this would be Hester, she went by Esther and Aunt Hessy) had son Boaz whose daughter Emily married Thomas Boydstone.

According to the Douglas history a George Boydston was a justice of the peace in Green Township in 1820. He is also listed as having taught school there. Constable George Boydston issued the first state warrant in the township for an arrest. See the Bicentennial History for the story. Since she was still living, this "late" must have referred to her maiden name. 7Mary Breakfield was the second wife of Thomas Boydston of East Union Township, Wayne County, OH.] [On 9 Dec 1826 there was a public sale of the estate of George Boydston.]

"History of Wayne Co., OH" by Ben Douglass (Wooster: 1874), p. 677, reports that George was an initial Justice of the Peace in Green Twp. (1817-1821) and a Trustee (1817); p. 680 reports George was among early settlers, along with Benjamin Boydston. Note that David Boydston served as first township clerk (1817-1818) succeeded by Benjamin (1818-1822). P. 681: "On section 21 were visible remains of an Indian village as late as 1819. The first State's warrant was issued April 5, 1818, by George Boydston, for the arrest of John Treasure, for assault and battery...."; the second school in the township "was taught by George Boydston on the farm now owned [1874] by George Freeman."

The approved DAR supplemental application of Patricia Ann Piper (member 617215) has a note from the DAR Registrar General 8 May 2006 that the payment George received in 1775 for militia service was apparently related to Lord Dunsmore's War, before the War for Independence. The note states that service during the War for Independence consisted of furnishing supplies. Cited is Abercrombie and Slatten, "Virginia Revolutionary Public Claims," Vol. 2, p. 682.

Christopher graduated from Georgetown and Fordham Universities. Following a career with Equitable Life Assurance, Christopher managed (with his father) the family electronics marketing firm in New Jersey and later managed commercial real estate. His parents are John Paul Dearie (b. 2 September 1910 at Carbondale, PA) and Ann Rose Farrell (b. 9 December 1910 at Archbald, PA).
His obituary: "Dearie--Christopher Farrell, of Old Westbury and Manhattan passed away on March 18 of natural causes. He is survived by his wife Direxa Dick Dearie and children Christopher Farrell Jr., Direxa Virginia, Honora Anne, William Dick and John Conner; grandchildren Katherine, Madeline and Christopher III; his sisters, Maureen Dearie Husk and Gertrude Dearie Frekko and brothers, John Paul Dearie Jr. and J. Lawrence Dearie. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, family member, friend and son of God. Christopher was born in Westfield, New Jersey on August 22, 1942 to John Paul Dearie and Anna Rose Farrell. He grew up in Mountain Lakes, New Jersey; graduated from Georgetown University and Fordham Law School and worked as a New York based attorney. A wake will be held at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 25 from 8:30am-10am. A funeral will be held at the Church of St. Thomas More on Tuesday, March 25, at 10:45am. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the Church of St. Thomas More., 65 East 89th Street, New York, NY 10128."
