[28982] Susan's obituary: "Word was received at Shelby yesterday morning that Mrs. Adam Weiser had died at Fostoria, whither she had gone on a visit. Mrs. W. had been afflicted by a cancerous growth in one of her eyes, and the eye and tumor had been successfully removed last spring, but of late the cancer returned and it is supposed caused her death. Mrs. W. was one of the pioneers of Richland County and was highly respected. The remains will be brought to her home at Shelby today and the funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at London Lutheran Church, to which denomination the deceased belonged. Mrs. Weiser formerly lived in the adjoining township of Cass and was, a near neighbor of Jacob Sheeley, who died on the same day and whose funeral will also take place tomorrow at London Church. [34113] Portland [Maine] Press Herald, 23 July 1949, p. 12: Arthur P Johnson 74 retired locomotive engineer died Friday in his home 28 Runnells Street, after an illness of three months. A lifelong resident of Portland. Mr Johnson was born Der 15, 1874, son of the late Daniel F. and Abigail Peabody Johnson, and attended local schools. He retired in 1946 after serving 50 years locomotive engineer for the Maine Central Railroad. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Engineers and attended the West End Gospel Tabernacle. Surviving are his widow Ella Coolbroth Johnson, two sons. Harold C. Johnson. Gorham, and Daniel F Johnson Portland, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He had 9 sons, the two eldest, George and Henry born in Berks County, PA. The remaining 7 sons - Jacob, John, William, Peter, Adam, Abraham and Philip - were born in Frederick County, MD. Jacob, William, Peter and Abraham remained in Adams County until their death. The others moved to either New York or Ohio. Abraham is somewhat famous as the owner of one of the Spangler properties on the Gettysburg battlefield."
