She was born Aug. 23, 1919, on Little Deer Isle, the daughter of Asa and Florence (Weed) Eaton. When she was three years old, she was adopted and raised by Mr. Alvah Robinson and Mary Strout. During her childhood, until she was 19 years old, she resided on Deer Isle Maine Coast Light, where she saw many interesting things that stayed with her throughout her life. Surviving are two sons, Carroll W. Kane of Brooklin, Sheldon N. Kane of Deer Isle; one brother, Whitney J. Eaton of New Haven, Conn.; two sisters, Kathleen Eaton of Lewiston, Flora Eaton of South China; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several cousins of Deer Isle and Stonington. Rachel was predeceased in 1994 by one son, Alvah Kane of Brooklin. Graveside funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 7, at Brooklin Cemetery, Brooklin, with Elder Gary Wilson officiating."

Death followed an illness of many months. Native of Mahantango Valley, son of the late Edward and Katie (Keim) Wolfgang, John Wolfgang lived in Mount Carmel from early manhood. He was engaged in mining at Sayre Colliery until that operation was abandoned. Surviving are a son, two daughters, two sisters, two brothers and three grandchildren." "The Pottsville Republican [Pottsville, PA], 28 December 1949," p. 18: "John Wolfgang, 75, Shamokin, died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kerner. He had been in ill health for seven years. Born in Mahantongo Valley, he was a son of the late Edward and Katie Keim Wolfgang. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical U. B. Church and had been a miner. His wife, Agnes, died seven years ago. He leaves three daughters, all of Shamokin: two sisters and two brothers.
