[2822] He is probably the Jacob Perkins of whom Mark Honey wrote (Castine Patriot, Castine, ME, 15 July 2004, p. 5) "Jacob Perkins, age about 39, may have been widowed by 1779. With other citizens, fired on the British gunboats with his own musket. Forced to flee for his life, and I might add, for his insanity in taking on a British man-of-war with a simple pea shooter." - see "Majorbidwaduce..." by Ellenore W. Doudiet (Castine: Castine Scientific Society, 1978), p. 90.
