[1196] Roger was once thought to have been a Bishop of Carlisle after the death of older brother, Randolph, who was reported to have been Bishop ca. 1220. They are not in the official list of bishops, but there were disputes in the diocese and many irregularities in this era. It was a time of civil war, in which Carlisle and its churchmen played a major role in the struggle between King John and the Northerners. See "John Irish, His Life and Ancestors, 1066-1677," George E. Irish (Baltimore: The Gateway Press, 1991).

[29124] This line is not verified, but is as presented by Daniel T. Rogers in his web site at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~dantrogers which offers further ancestry and states Phoebe is daughter of Jonathan Shore (b. 23 Feb 1649 in Lynn, MA) and Priscilla Hawthorne (b. 22 July 1649 at Salem, MA; m. 15 Jan 1689).
[28518] http://www.thepeerage.com/p10510.htm states that "Sir James Smith lived at Canons Leigh, Devon, England. He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Taunton between 1716 and 1732. He lived at St. Audries, Somerset, England."
[27084] Find A Grave memorial 113055848 offers: "Children: Hermanus Batdorf, John Adam Batdorf, Christian Batdorf, George Peter Batdorf, Maria Margaretha Batdorf Weiser, Heinrich Batdorf, Martin Batdorf, Jr., Maria Elizabeth Batdorf Koppenhaver, Elizabeth Batdorf Walborn, Catherine Batdorf Noecher. (There is no written record of where Maria Elizabeth is buried. Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Stouchsburg, Berks County, Pennsylvania is an assumption because her husband was a charter member and deacon of this congregation and they lived in this area. The index, though, for the Christ Church Cemetery Book by The Tulpehocken Settlement Historical Society indicate a different Maria buried here. No tombstone can be found although there are others of her family buried here.)"
