[1528] Philip II was crowned 1 Nov 1179 at Reims during his father's reign; led Crusade with Richard of England but took ill at seige of Acre and returned to Paris (Christmas, 1191), and betrayed Richard; he went on to conquer Normandy and prepared to invade England (but King John came to terms with him); turned back John's invasion in 1214 and dealt with other threats; favored the merchants while building a strong central government. Phillip II reigned 1180-1223 and was also Count of Artois. Isabella of Hainault was his first wife; he also married (2)(in 1193) Isambour of Denmark (no children; divorce not recognized by the Pope) and (3) Agnes de Meran (children legitimized by Popt Innocent III: Philippe Hurepel, Count of Boulogne by marriage to the heiress of the county, and Marie, betrothed to Arthur). Philipp II also had a "morganatic union" with "a maiden of Arras" by whom he had Pierre Charlot, Bishop of Noyon.
