[51356] Gilbert's obituary: "Penobscot - Ed Dorr died peacefully May 7, 2009, at his home, with his family beside him, after a short illness. He was born Oct. 23, 1933, in Harrington, to Etta (Cousins) and Bernard Dorr. Ed was a happy sort of guy and accomplished much in his lifetime. He went to school in Harrington. He married Elaine in 1951 and then in 1954 moved his family to Connecticut, where he established his own business in construction and excavation for many years. Upon his return to Maine in 1970, he opened a store for a while, then did more construction work and finally was a caretaker in Castine before retiring. Ed is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elaine; his daughters, Sally Judkins and her husband, Dave, Sue Hatch and her husband, Bob, of Penobscot and Cheryl Crawford and her husband, Benny and their granddaughter, Tori, of Castine; daughter-in-law, Sheila Dorr and family of Oklahoma; his sisters, Vera Pelky and her husband, Don, of Orrington and Arlene Hartford and her husband, Pete, of Gouldsboro; sisters-in-law, Maxine Dorr of Harrington and Ethel Garnett and her husband, George, of Bradenton, Fla.; mother-in-law, Lillian Colson of Steuben; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Melvin and Earl Dorr; father-in-law, Sonny Colson; his son, Billy; and granddaughter, Deena Judkins."
